Letter to Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
On May 28, 2012, OGS sent a letter to the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages James Moore with
copies to the Prime Minister's Office and to Librarian and Archivist,
Daniel Caron. Modified email versions of this letter have also been sent
to every Member of Parliament for the province of Ontario in order to
represent OGS members across the province.
The letter outlines the Society's concerns about the planned cuts at
Library and Archives Canada and requests that specific actions be taken
to prevent these cuts from occurring.
The letter has been posted for you to read so you will
see where the Society stands on this subject.
Please take some time to write a letter of your own to express your
sentiments on this issue and let the current government hear your
concerns.
It is important to write your own letter rather than sending a form
letter. Form letters can be ignored; unique letters demonstrate that the
subject matters deeply to the writer.
The more letters sent, the "louder" our voices. For inspiration and talking points to consider, you are welcome to read
the OGS letter or visit the Save Library & Archives Canada website.
Listed below are the addresses of some of the persons you may wish to send your letters to.
