and Iowna, daughter of the late W.W. and Gladys
ALCOX of Markdale,
met when Iowna was the teacher at the S.S.#8 one-room school
on Concession 8, Artemesia Township. She boarded with his aunt
and uncle, Belle and Court Smith.
They were married in Toronto on May 14, 1955. Her twin sister
Leona was maid of honor and his bother Doug was best man.
The couple farmed at Lake Eugenia for over 20 years while raising
their family of four daughters and a son. After selling the farm,
Mr. TURNER obtained employment as a custodian at Beavercrest
Elementary▲▼
School▲▼ in Markdale and Mrs.
TURNER began working at
Grey Owen Lodge in Markdale, now Grey Gables. She took night
classes at Georgian College in Owen Sound, while working full-time,
and graduated as a nurse's aide. She spent over 20 years employed
at Grey Gables, and still volunteers there on a regular basis.
