SMYTH
In loving memory of Walter Roy
SMYTH, at the age of 79 years at the
Manitoulin Lodge in Gore Bay on April 10, 2001.
He was born on the family homestead Lot 11. Concession 8, Robinson Township
son of the late Roy and Winnifred
{KENT}
SMYTH.
Walter had the farmed the
family farm all his life, except for the years during the war. He was very
active in his community, and will be sadly missed. Walter was a member and
an elder of St. Andrew's United Church, and an elder of the church and just
this past Sunday was presented with a plaque for his many years of service
on the Board of Session. A charter member of Branch 514 Royal Canadian Legion
Gore Bay and a member for over 50 years, He had fought overseas with the
Service Corps of the Canadian Army. He also was a member of many
organizations, such as the Cream Producers, the Soil and Crop Association,
and the Hereford Association. He had been chairman of the Robinson Township
School Board, and Secretary Treasurer of the Robinson Telephone Co. for many
years. Walter also had many hobbies which included photography, woodworking,
coin collecting, reading and he liked to collect stones, many found in the
fields where he plowed. Although Walter was a busy person, he cherished, and
was proud of his family and loved to spend as much time as he could with them.

and nephews.

Friends may call at the Culgin Funeral Home, after 7: 00 pm on Thursday,
April 19 and
at St. Andrews United Church, Silver Water, on Friday, April 20
from 1-2 pm. The funeral service will be conducted at 2: 00pm. with Mr.
Erwin Thompson officiating. Cremation to follow.
Branch 514 Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a memorial service at the
funeral service on Friday.
