Funeral services for Mr. Rick FRANCIS, age 47 years, who died Saturday, May 17, 2003, were held on Tuesday evening in the Blake Funeral Chapel in Thunder Bay, ON, led by Reverend Larry KROKER of Saint Anne's Church. Eulogies were offered by Kevin MAIN, Jaymie PENNY, Paul FRANCIS, Jennifer O'NEIL and Tamara BROWN. Numerous co-workers from the city of Thunder Bay, fellow coaches from minor hockey, neighbors, Friends and family attended the service. Removal was then made to Little Current, for visitation and Funeral Mass in Saint Bernard's Church celebrated by Reverend Bert FOLIOT S.J. on Thursday, May 22, 2003. The readings were proclaimed by Celina McGREGOR, Jennifer KEYS, Raquel KOENIG and PollyAnna McNALLY. Eulogies were offered by Kerry FRANCIS, Raymond FRANCIS, Jenny McGRAW, Paul FRANCIS and Ruthanne FRANCIS. The offertory gifts were presented by Kerry and Brenda FRANCIS. The Soloist was Rosa PITAWANAKWAT- BURK/BURKE accompanied by the organist Thomas NESHIKWE. Services were largely attended by long time Friends, members of Saint Bernard Church, and family. Honourary Pallbearers were Jeff FRANCIS and David LARSON. The Active Pallbearers were Allan ESHKAWKOGAN, Paul FRANCIS Jr., Robert McGRAW Jr., Craig KOENIG, Mike McNALLY and Chris KEYS.

NÚÑEZ, Ann Matthews (née MATTHEWS)
Ann Matthews NÚÑEZ passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2003. Ann was born in Torrance, California on May 20, 1948. Her parents were Robert Emmet (Bobby) MATTHEWS and Margaret Ann (Peggy) VINCENT. Her older sister, Kitty SALINAS, lives in San Marino, California, and her older brother Bo MATTHEWS lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The family lived together in Hermosa Beach, California. Her father, Bobby MATTHEWS, died in 1951. In 1956, Peggy Matthews married Donald O'NEIL. Ann's dear step-father brought them four new brothers and a sister (Tom, Mike, Steve, Jack, Molly O'NEIL.)
Ann attended the University of California at Berkeley. She graduated from Cal in 1969 and shortly after, she married José NÚÑEZ de las Cuevas of La Coruña, Spain. She and José and their growing family lived in Tiburon, California; in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the province of Orense in the region of Galicia in Spain, and finally in Toronto. They have five children: Lucia, Mauro, Martin, Pilar, and Alvar. The NÚÑEZ children have all graduated or are presently attending Canadian universities. The entire family are contributing members of the community. Like their mother, they are devoted to their adopted country of Canada.
Ann graduated from the University of Toronto Law School in 1993. She practiced law since then and, recently, she served as Vice-Chair on the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board. She was on the Spanish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. And she taught mediation at York University Law School.
Ann leaves behind her dear children; her mother; her brothers and sisters; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; many beloved MATTHEWS and O'NEIL cousins, nieces and nephews; and her many wonderful and loving Friends in Toronto.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (St. Clair and Mt. Pleasant), on Monday, October 6, 2003, at 7: 00 p.m.

O'NEILL, Reverend Desmond Michael, After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Father O'NEILL died on April 8, 2003, in the 44th year of his priesthood. He was the son of the late Leo O'NEILL and the late Agnes O'CONNOR. He was brother to sister Eileen BRADLEY (deceased.) He is survived by his sister Helen and brothers George and Frank (and his wife Pat). Funeral arrangements by R.S. Kane Funeral Home. Visitation at Saint Margaret of Scotland Church on Friday, April 11 from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Saint Margaret of Scotland Church, 222 Ridley Blvd., Toronto. Interment in the Priest's Plot at St. Augustine Seminary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.

He Died
Those who knew Larry well would recognize that the above was the obituary that he requested.
Larry passed away peacefully at Cygnet Hollow, his farm near Sunderland, Ontario, on November 2, 2003. His love and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by his wife Dorothy, daughter Kimberley, son Kevin, and daughter-in-law Pamela. His sisters Carole GRIFFIN an Sue O'NEILL together with their spouses Peter and Bill and their families will miss him as well.
At Larry's request, there will be no service. However, there will be an open house at Cygnet Hollow on Sunday, November 9 between 1: 00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. For directions, visit www.eddy.ca or call 705-357-1908. O'NEILL, Madelène (née HERSEY)
Died suddenly and peacefully at the Griffith McConnell residence on Monday, November 3rd, 2003 in her eighty-third year. Dear wife of Dr. James H. O'NEILL and beloved mother of Sharon (Bob SMALLHORN), Sally (Bob LEWIS), Stephanie (Skip KERNER) of Montreal and Sheelah of Montreal. Lène will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren David and Brian (Sandra) SMALLHORN, Chris and Tim (Jan) LEWIS, Matthew, Jamin, Emily and Sarah KERNER, and David and John ATTALA and new great-grandaughter. Sister of Peter (Mary) and the late John, also sister of Mason and Ronald. Visitation will be at Kane and Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd. (Corner Isabella), on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Malachy's Church (corner Clanranald and Isabella) on Thursday, November 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Alzheimer Society, 5165 Sherbrooke St. West, Office 410, Montréal, Québec, H4A 1T6 or to the Griffith McConnell Residence, 5760 Parkhaven, Cote St. Luc, Québec, H4W 1Y1.
