VLESSING,
Max
Born in Alkmaar, Holland in 1930. Max
VLESSING died peacefully
in Vancouver on July 8, 2003, in his 73Rd year. His stories,
humour, his kind, gentle nature will be missed by his wife, Willy,
his sons Etan, Omri and Jaier, grand_sons Didi and Long-xi, and
those blessed and trusted as Friends. Max had known hopeless
odds before: as a child in German-occupied Holland. He was hidden
by the Dutch Resistance, survived, only to learn at war's end
that his parents and elder sister had been betrayed and sent
to Auschwitz. The doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit
at Vancouver General Hospital were as selfless and compassionate
as his war-time protectors. They ensured his passing was, as
his life, with dignity and comfort. A private service was held
in White Rock, British Columbia on Thursday, July 10, 2003.
