AYEARST, Lilian
Passed away suddenly, but peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Scarborough General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband Peter and daughter Wendy. Lilian will be missed by her children Peter (Pam), Caryl, and Donna (Al). Loving grandmother to Christopher, Patrick, and Kevin. Much loved aunt to Pete and Jean LINEGER, David and Sheila AYEARST and their families. Lilian's family would like to thank the staff of Birch House at Providence Healthcare for their love and care over the past six years; she will be missed by the many Friends she had there. Donations in Lilian's memory may be made to Providence Healthcare.

AYER, Dr. William " Bill" Alfred (1932-2005) F.R.S.C.
On December 2, 2005, Dr. William Alfred (Bill) AYER of Edmonton passed away at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy; six children, Susan (Marc) BARYLO, Dr. Stephen (Roxanne) AYER, Judith (Kenneth) KONCUR, Andrew (Ruth Fletcher) AYER, Dr. Katherine (Timothy) LAZARUK, and Carol (Kelly) BERINGER- BROWN. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Genevieve, Alisha, and Carolyn AYER, Nicholas and Shannon KONCUR, Rachel AYER, Justin and Alison LAZARUK and Christopher BERINGER. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Frederic AYER and Elizabeth Main HARPER, his three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild, David James Anderson AYER.
Bill was an accomplished chemist and teacher. Born in Middle Sackville, New Brunswick, he studied chemistry at the University of New Brunswick and Harvard University where he was involved in the first total synthesis of chlorophyll. Beginning in 1958, he was a professor of chemistry at the University of Alberta, and he was appointed "University Professor" in 1992. Bill was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a former Editor of the Canadian Journal of Chemistry, and past President of the Canadian Society for Chemistry. He taught and mentored many undergraduate, postgraduate, and postdoctoral chemists by combining ingenious creativity with infectious enthusiasm, joy, and genuine caring.
His gentle manner, sense of humour and love for his wife, family and Friends will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church in Edmonton, Alberta, on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m. Donations may be made directly to the Centre for Lung Health, Caritas Health Group, 11111 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5K 0L4.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Aaron (Samuel) James AYERS on Saturday, January 15th, 2005 in Victoria, British Columbia. Beloved son of Bessie AYERS, predeceased by his father James W. AYERS. Brother of Betty (Don) MASSICOTTE of Brantford, Wendy AYERS of Acton and Richard (Julie) AYERS of Brantford. Dear friend of Tom and Marty of London. By request, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date with interment of ashes at Mount Hope Cemetery. Margaret (GOUGH) of Newcastle Lodge, Hamilton and formerly of Aylmer on Monday, February 21, 2005, at the Henderson General Hospital, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold Hubert AYERS and dear mother of Robert AYERS of London and dear mother-in-law of Ruth SCUDERI of London. Sadly missed by 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7: 00 p.m. Private interment in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Hamilton. Beloved wife of the late Charles F. AYERS, much loved mother of Susan MARTIN (David) of Kingston and Cathy McCONNELL (Douglas) of Mississauga.
Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Michelle ASTA (Tony,) Nicole KOWALEWICZ (Jason), Lianne WEBSTER (Kent), John MARTIN and Jody MARTIN (fiancé Jason BERGEN) and great-grandchildren Sara ASTA, Jamie, Brandon, Ian, Erik and Alyn WEBSTER.
Predeceased by her parents, brother Alfred MASON and sisters Freda, Ruby, Olive, Edna and Gladys.

Passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in his 91st year, due to complications from Parkinsons. Lifetime employee of Canada Dry. Husband of the late Doris AYERS and long time companion of the late Pierette BOURJOT. He will be missed by his son Frank and his wife Viiu, grandchildren Kristi, Lennart and Erik. Also survived by his sister Mary JEFFERY and brother Sam and nieces and nephews Rosalie, Bill, Cathy, and Peter. Express gratitude to the caregivers and Friends at Rekai Centre for their years of tender care. Visitation will be held at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd. (south of Eglinton) on Sunday, February 13, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Wife of Ted and the late Oscar. Peacefully, while residing at Guildwood Extendicare, on Thursday, December 1, 2005, in her 90th year. Dearly loved and cherished Auntie Evy of Debbie McQUESTON, her husband Gary and sons Darren and Kyle of Pickering. We treasure the very special and important part she played in our lives. Fondly remembered by nephew Scott GRANT, his wife Kathy and daughters Sarah, Laura and Caitlin of Saskatoon. Beloved sister of Jack AYERS (deceased,) Irene GRANT (deceased) and May OKE and their spouses. Dear aunt of Donna SIDSWORTH, Marilyn HOLMESHAW, Lynda CLARK, Janet ROBB (deceased) and Jim OKE and their families. Auntie Evy always had a twinkle in her eye, a smile on her face and a keen sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Please remember her with love and happy memories.
