BARKER, Margaret Eleanor (née COOK)
B.Sc. 1946 (University of Saskatchewan); water colour painter and artist.
Unexpectedly and painlessly passed away on Friday, June 24 in her home in Port Colborne, Ontario in her 79th year. Beautiful and cherished wife of the late W. Vernon, and loving mother of Cheryl (Bob BEATTY); Eleanor; Grant (Linda PRICE); and, Alice (Michael MacMITCHELL.) Thoughtful grandmother of Chris BEATTY, Jennifer BEATTY, Owain BARKER and Clare BARKER; she provided them a lovely cottage for their early years. Dear sister of George and Pat COOK (London, Ontario), Dorothy LACKIE (Drummondville, P.Q.,) Reid and Sue COOK (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.,) and Stuart and Emily WHITNEY (Victoria, British Columbia). Sister-in-law to Alice BOWES (Victoria, British Columbia), Roy and Laura ESSELMONT (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Victor and Belva WALKER (Victoria, British Columbia). Leaves behind 19 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son James Wesley, her brother Linton COOK and her parents John and Mary COOK. Lovingly cared for and blessedly befriended by Marilyn THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. She will be sorely missed by her children who appreciated her strength through challenging times. The family thanks Dr. WHITEHALL and The Community Care Access Centre Niagara. Cremation has taken place. Mother of Joan KING and her husband Bill of Camlachie, Barbara BIRDSEY and her husband Charlie of Saint Thomas and Robert ESSELTINE and his wife Elizabeth of R.R.#3, Saint Thomas. Sister of David A. CROSSETT and his partner Lois NEAL of Saint Thomas. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born in Yarmouth Twp., Ontario, October 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Thomas CROSSETT and the late Clara (FINCH) INGRAM and step-daughter of the late Charles H. INGRAM. Beloved wife of the late Charles Douglas WEBBER and dearly loved mother of Jean and her husband Robert DUNLOP, Saint Thomas; Marie GILBERT, London; Elizabeth and her husband Robert ESSELTINE, Saint Thomas; Pamela WEBBER and her fiancé Rick, Chatham; Sandra and her husband Harry CODE, Ottawa and Charles WEBBER and his partner Kathleen, Saint Thomas. Predeceased by a sister Annie and by a son-in-law Jack. Clara is also lovingly remembered by eleven grandchildren, four great-granchildren and a sister Frances. She was born November 11th, 1922 in Yorkshire, England to Mr. and Mrs. Harry MAPPLEBECK. Member of the Saint John's Anglican Church, Tillsonburg, dedicated teacher with both the Oxford County and the Thames Valley District School Boards, most recently a Grade 8 English teacher and head of Guidance of Annadale School, Tillsonburg. Dedicated to his community, he was a proud member of the Tillsonburg Kiwanis Club, organizer of the Canadian Wife-Carrying Championships and Tillsonburg Fair-Youth Talent Search, Rick also helped initiate and co-ordinate a number of Terry Fox Runs. Devoted to the Isabella Lake Real Men's Club.

William WARBURTON, peacefully, on July 24, 2005, at Exeter Villa, in his 83rd year. Lovingly remembered by his children William WARBURTON, Susan and Ben HOOGENBOOM and Mary and Martyn VAN ESSEN, grandchildren Ben and Jenna, Kara, Joel, Ian, and Wynn, Kirsten, Jerry, Samantha and Brandon and sisters and brother-in-law Mollie REESOR, Barbara OCKENDEN, Dorothy and Harry TROUGHTON, and Norma and Franklin SPARROW. Bill was predeceased by his first wife and the children's mother Dorothy (LEACH/LEECH/LEITCH) WARBURTON (1980,) second wife Dorothy (FOLLIOTT) WARBURTON (1995,) by parents William and Olive (WHITEHEAD) WARBURTON and by brothers-in-law Clayton REESOR and William OCKENDEN.
Bill was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (1942-1973), and attained the rank of Warrant Officer. During his thirty years of service as a noncommissioned officer, Bill was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-1945 War Medal, and the Special Service Medal (serving with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Bill also served the community with his contributions as People's Warden and Rector's Warden of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church, Exeter, for many years. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, stories of his many travels, and bear hugs and whisker rubs. Thank you Bill for showing the importance of pride in self, community and country. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27th at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church at 2 p.m. with Reverend Bill WARD officiating. Cremation to follow.
