Passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on June 24, 2005. Beloved wife of Harold of 43 years and loving mother to five children, Norma (James), Joseph (Monica), Mary (Ron) and Donna (Steven). She was predeceased by her youngest son, John in 1995. She was a dedicated grandmother to ten grandchildren, Kristen (Shawn), Robert, David, Shawn, Craig, Denise, Kimberly, Darren, Chloe and Samuel. She will be sorely missed by her siblings, Thelma HERMAN of Toronto, William COOK, Theresa JESSOM both of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and Alva NOSEWORTHY of Stephenville, Newfoundland. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nursing staff at Scarborough General Hospital that cared for our Mother. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 10: 00 a.m. at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 717 Kennedy Road, Scarborough. Passed away in her 94th year, peacefully at home on March 2, 2005. Mary MARINO was the first Peterborough-born hairstylist to establish a Hair Salon in Peterborough. From 1928 through to 1974, Mary owned and operated the "Mary Marino Beauty Salon", later the "Mary Pepe Beauty Salon". Mary created a caring and welcoming home for family and Friends. She was a wise confidante to many. Predeceased by her parents Angelina Giovinna GALLO (1963,) and Francesco Paolo MARINO (1925,) her beloved husband, Antonio "Tony" PEPE (1977;) and their son, Anthony PEPE (1986.) Mary is mourned by daughters Berenice PEPE, Toronto; Dr. Carmela Pepe (Ernest) ENZINAS, Wolfville, Nova Scotia; Mary Pepe (Emilio) INCERTO, Toronto; her son, Michael (Lori) PEPE, Larchmount, New York; daughter-in-law Maggie PEPE- HUTTON, Hamilton; and Mary's brother, Joe MARINO, Peterborough. Mary was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth LIGNER, Catherine MAIO; brothers Frank, Tony, Vinny of Peterborough. It is with sadness that the family of Shirley Anne GLOIN announces her passing on Friday, May 6, 2005 after a valiant struggle against lymphoma.
Shirley Anne was better known as "my best date" by husband Don "Mom" by Connie and her husband Howard DAY and Ken and his wife Michele; "G.G." by granddaughters Cindy and Laura; "sis" by Betty and Joyce; "sister-in-law" by Bev and Margie GLOIN; "Auntie-Anne" by Kevin and Barb COX, Greg and Jen GLOIN, Kathy and Ken BELL as well as Tim, Pam, Sandy and Peter INCH; " Shakespeare" by hundreds of girls and women with whom she came in contact through Guiding and "Anne" by her many cherished Friends from Saint Thomas, Etobicoke, Regina, Montreal, Rockville, Maryland, Oakville, Kitchener and places beyond. She will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in the chapel of the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King St. W., Kitchener with a reception to follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre.
