Jessie MUNRO, a resident of Milton and formerly of Kagawong, died at Milton on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the age of 77 years.
She was born in Campbell Township, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Jane (TURNBULL) HUBBERT.
Jessie and her husband Dave, who predeceased November 8, 2001, had attended the Salvation Army before moving to Manitoulin, then attended the Mindemoya Missionary Church. Jessie loved to read, and she had a great talent for writing. In all she wrote 5 books about the history of Manitoulin, as well as tracing the family tree. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, but mostly liked to spoil her grandchildren. Jessie was predeceased
by her beloved husband George David MUNRO. Loved and loving mother of Mark MUNRO of Arthur, Jane and Doug DAVISON of Georgetown, Robert of Arthur, Jessie and Jonathan WOOD of Milton, Ruth and Jonas STUTZMAN of Campbellville, Sandy and Janine MUNRO of Streetsville and Don and Sharon MUNRO of Aberfoyle. Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Dear sister of Harold and his wife Alice HUBBERT of Sundridge and Carmen and his wife Aileen of Kitchener. Of Guelph, formerly of Caledon East, passed away at the Guelph General Hospital, Friday, September 9, 2005 at the age of 72 years. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of Guelph. Dear father of Joe and his wife Susan of Caledon East, Wendy and her husband Sean HAMILTON of Orangeville and Mark and his wife Angeles of Oakville. Loving grandfather of Jon and Tommy SWITZER and Garrett and Brendan HAMILTON. Brother of Lois (Wayne) DICKSON/DIXON, Sondra (Maurice) DICKS, Ann (Bill) KLOOSTER, Bryce, Lynda (Jim) MacKENZIE. Brother-in-law of Lois (Dick) TAILOR/TAYLOR and Bob (Betty) ASHTON. Predeceased by brothers William and Jack. BIRD, John Irvine, Q.C.
Age 87, died very peacefully at home September 17, 2005 surrounded by his family.
John was born September 23, 1917 in Wimbledon, England and completed his high school education at Shawnigan Lake School and commerce degree at University of British Columbia and studied law at Dalhousie University. He played rugby for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and was honoured to be invited to play fullback with the British Columbia All Stars against the New Zealand All Blacks in 1935. When World War 2 broke out he enlisted with the Canadian Navy on loan to the British Navy where he achieved the rank of lieutenant. He served on the destroyers "Wolverine", "Trinidad" and "Argonaut".
After the war he returned to Vancouver with his family and articled in law. He practised maritime law with J.V. Clyne at Campney Owen Murphy and Owen. He and the Hon. Walter Owen were founding partners of Owen Bird. John was a pre-eminent counsel in maritime law, was appointed Queen's Counsel and on many occasions appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. He served as Chair of Maritime Law of the Canadian Bar Association, Vice-President of the Canadian Maritime Law Association, President of the Plimsoll Club and was appointed to the Vancouver Police Commission.
Predeceased by his parents, Eva and Chief Justice Henry BIRD, his brother William and sister Eve (HOCKIN.) Survived and dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Molly BIRD (née McCALLUM,) sons Michael BIRD (Carolyn) and Brian BIRD (Lora) and daughter Barbara KLOPFENSTEIN (Albrecht,) grandchildren Shelley DESBRISAY, Blake KLOPFENSTEIN, Hallie and Devon BIRD.
Memorial Service to be held on Friday, September 23rd at 2: 00 p.m. at Saint Mary's (Kerrisdale) Anglican Church, 2490 West 37th Avenue, Vancouver with a reception to follow at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Club - 1630 West 15th Ave., Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 8200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4W5 would be appreciated.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lillian Meta Ann HASKELL on December 19th, 2005 in her 69th year, after a lengthy illness. Lilly has been reunited with her parents and sister, Eleanor. Beloved sister of Katherine (Kitty) and her husband John. Loving mother of Desiree and her husband Kevin, Darcie and her husband Mike and son Delaney. Proud grandmother of Rebecca, Alyson, Tina, Tyler and great-grandmother of Trinity. Lovingly remembered by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her love, strength and will to live. At Lilly's request, a private family service will be held.
