Rex was born in Surrey, England and came to Canada in 1926, graduated
from McGill University, Montreal and then worked for Massey Harris
in London. Rex married in 1933 and returned to England to serve
with the Royal Air Force during World War 2 as an aircraft mechanism
instructor. Returning to Canada in 1955 he worked for 20 years
with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority as Park Superintendent.
He was largely responsible for developing Pioneer Village, Fanshawe
Golf Course and the areas of Fanshawe Trailer Park and the Cricket,
Yacht, Rowing and Archery Clubs. Rex was an avid curler and former
President of the London Curling Club, golfed frequently at the
Thames Valley Golf Club, lawn bowled with his wife Gwen at the
Thistle Club and was an honourary member of Middlesex Kiwanis
Club. He retained a professional interest in gardening and landscaping
in the London area until well into his 90's. Friends will be
received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at
the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London
and 1 hour prior to the complete funeral service which will be
conducted in the chapel on Saturday, May 28th, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m.
