BISHOP, Reginald Harold " Rex"
Peacefully at Chelsey Park Retirement Community on Sunday, May 22nd, 2005 Reginald Harold "Rex" BISHOP of London in his 99th year. Beloved husband of the late Gwen (STEVENS) BISHOP. Dear godfather of Barbara PFILE and her husband Dale of Kilworth. Dear brother-in-law of Kay CARR and her husband Ronald and Maxine ABRAMS and her husband Norman all of London. Loving uncle of Carol-Lee ABRAMS, Shirley SMITH and her husband Gerry all of London, Philip STEVENS and his wife Joyce of Sarnia and John ABRAMS and his wife Anne of Hamilton. Also loved by his great nieces, great nephews, his great great nieces and great great nephews. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Lyle STEVENS, his wife Gertrude and their son Mark.
Rex was born in Surrey, England and came to Canada in 1926, graduated from McGill University, Montreal and then worked for Massey Harris in London. Rex married in 1933 and returned to England to serve with the Royal Air Force during World War 2 as an aircraft mechanism instructor. Returning to Canada in 1955 he worked for 20 years with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority as Park Superintendent. He was largely responsible for developing Pioneer Village, Fanshawe Golf Course and the areas of Fanshawe Trailer Park and the Cricket, Yacht, Rowing and Archery Clubs. Rex was an avid curler and former President of the London Curling Club, golfed frequently at the Thames Valley Golf Club, lawn bowled with his wife Gwen at the Thistle Club and was an honourary member of Middlesex Kiwanis Club. He retained a professional interest in gardening and landscaping in the London area until well into his 90's. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London and 1 hour prior to the complete funeral service which will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday, May 28th, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m. with Reverend Robert STRACHAN officiating. Interment of cremated remains in Woodland Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex Bequest and Endowment Fund, 78 Riverside Drive, London, Ontario N6H 1B4. At London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Norman A.H. ABRAMS of London in his 80th year. Beloved and loving husband of Maxine (STEVENS) ABRAMS. Dearly loved father of Carol-Lee ABRAMS of London, John ABRAMS and his wife Anne of Hamilton and Shirley SMITH and her husband Gerry of London. Loving grandpa of Nicholas, Joseph, Jamila and Lindiwe ABRAMS. Dear brother-in-law of Kay and Ron CARR of London, the late Rex and Gwen BISHOP and the late Lyle and Gertrude STEVENS. Dear uncle of Barbara PFILE and her husband Dale of London, Philip and Joyce STEVENS of Sarnia and the late Mark STEVENS, as well as many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Missed by many cousins and their families in England. Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 11 to 12 noon on Saturday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday July 2nd at 12 noon. Cremation with interment of cremated remains in Woodland Cemetery, London. Peacefully in her sleep at home in Orangeville, on Thursday, December 22, 2005, Dianne HARRIGAN, in her 48th year, beloved wife of Peter LANG. Devoted mother of Sarah. Cherished daughter of Marty and the late Al HARRIGAN. Dear sister of Donna MARLOW, Calgary, Alberta; Linda and Gordon REYNOLDS, Etobicoke; Karen and Roy PFISTER, Enniskillen. Loving aunt and friend to all who knew her. The family will receive their Friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter and Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville (519-941-2630) Tuesday afternoon 2-4 and evening 7-9 o'clock.
