On Wednesday May 4th, surrounded by family, he passed away peacefully
in Collingwood. Born in Toronto August 23, 1933, George will
be sorely missed by his wife Bette; children Corey, Jeff and
Kristine; daughter in-laws Alison and Samantha; grandchildren
Georgia and Matthew; dogs Jake and Kelly. George was a vibrant
and devoted member of the Craigleith Ski and Tennis, Kingsway
Platform Tennis, and Cranberry Golf clubs. His fun-loving nature,
tenacity, devotion to his family and spirited approach to competition
brought much joy to those around him. The only child of George
and Polly, George grew up in New Toronto. A life-long appreciation
for mechanics and technology led him into a long and happy career
at Bell Canada. As a proud father, George spent much time enthusiastically
supporting his children's various sporting competitions and social
endeavors. Yearly visits to grand parents Matthew and Mary, in
South Carolina are a happy memory for the family. As an active
athlete himself, George was a skiing and windsurfing pioneer
in Collingwood. In recent years George could be found spending
cherished time with "Buckaroo" and "Miami" his grandchildren,
taking long walks on Collingwood's golf courses and trails with
his wife and two best Friends Jake and Kelly or traveling to
golf destinations in the trailer. The family would like to express
it's heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and visited with
George over the past couple of months during his battle with
cancer. A service of Remembrance will be held Friday May 13th
at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 200 Maple St. in
Collingwood. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that
donations be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Cancer Care
