TUCKER, Vera Gwendolyn (née PETERSON)
On January the 22nd, 2005, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Born July 8, 1906 in Bruce Mines, Ontario, the daughter of Judge Nolton PETERSON and Kezia Sullivan PETERSON. Beloved wife of the late William Govier TUCKER, Q.C. (Fraser and Beatty - previously one of Canada's largest law firms). Devoted mother of Robert TUCKER, Carolyn GORDON, Susan McCLOCKLIN and Sally RUTLEDGE. Loving mother-in-law of the late Andrew GORDON, James McCLOCKLIN and Wayne RUTLEDGE. Grandmother to Katherine GIRGIS (Amir,) Robert GORDON (Jenny,) Patricia PALERMO (Tony,) John GORDON (Cathy), William TAILOR/TAYLOR (Sarah), Jim McCLOCKLIN (Amanda), Suzanne BAJIN (Gavin,) and Garth RUTLEDGE. Great-grandmother of Madeleine and Benjamin GIRGIS, Cailyn GORDON and Cole McCLOCKLIN. Vera is predeceased by her sister, Evelyn PETERSON and by her brothers, Mr. Wilbur PETERSON and Judge Harold PETERSON. She is survived by three siblings: Dr. Charles PETERSON, Mrs. Harriet BLACK (C.M.,) and Mrs. Ella JOHNSON of Florida. Vera loved her extended family very much and is remembered by her nieces and nephews: Dr. Peter BLACK (Boston, Massachusetts), Dr. Sandra BLACK, Dr. Susan BLACK (Virgina,) Patricia TREVOR (La Verne, California), Donna HOLBROOK, Bruce PETERSON (Israel), Larry PETERSON, Bonnie TRAVERSY (Palm Bay, Florida), Stuart PETERSON, Leith PETERSON, Chris PETERSON, Donald PETERSON (Canmore, Alberta), Nolton JOHNSON (Atlanta, Georgia), Linda AVEYARD, Lorraine JOHNSON (Lakeland, Florida), Jane JOHNSON (North Carolina), Joan VINCENTZ, Diane PEARSON, Barbara PETERSEN, Monica SNOW (London) and Mark TUCKER. LENZ, Ruth Hazel (formerly MacLOGHLIN, née WILLIAMS)
Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2005 in Peterborough, Ontario. She is survived by four sons and their wives -- Peter (Chick) MacLOGHLIN, Charlie (Helen), Fred (Yvonne) and Dave (Beth) LENZ, by twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and by her sister Betty MITCHELL. Mother was born September 22, 1915 in Toronto to Arthur WILLIAMS and his wife Margaret FORREST, the sixth of their nine children. She grew up in Saint Thomas, and was educated there and at the Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing. She married Dr. E. Gregg MacLOGHLIN and had one son, Peter, before Gregg was killed in action in Italy. Ruth subsequently married Charles LENZ and had three sons, Charlie, Fred and Dave. Ruth was active as a volunteer at the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital and at Grace Anglican Church in Waterdown. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held in Grace Church at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2005 followed by interment at the Hamilton Cemetery. A reception will be held afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Botanical Gardens in her memory would be appreciated by the family. Ruth's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Empress Gardens, Peterborough for the exemplary care they provided for Ruth since she moved there in 2000.

Beloved wife of Samuel McLORN and dearly loved mother of Josephine Faith and her husband Peter SYMES of England, Edith Caroline McLORN of British Columbia, James "Jim" Rogers McLORN of Sault Ste. Marie and Angus Samuel McLORN of Saint Thomas. Dear sister-in-law of Violet McLORN of Saint Thomas. Loved grandmother of Jennifer Elissa SYMES, Bryony Sarah SYMES and Emily Marie McLORN. Faith was born in Saint Thomas, on February 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter Irving and Violet Ada (McCAUSLAND) ROGERS. She was a life member of Sparta Baptist Church and a member of the Sparta Soris Womens Institute, Amnesty International and Oxfam and a supporter of Covenant House. Faith graduated from Alma College in 1940, University of Western Ontario in 1946. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 1: 00 p.m. Interment to follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) or Sparta Baptist Church.

Cherished daughter of Mary McCLOSKEY of Toronto, Ontario and her father the late J.R. McCLOSKEY. Sister of Ronald J. McCLOSKEY and his wife Faryl HAUSMAN and beloved aunt to Edward, Justin and Madison McCLOSKEY, all of Toronto, Ontario. Carol was the Facility Planning Coordinator at Southwestern Regional Centre of the Ministry of Community and Social Services near Blenheim, formerly a teacher at St. Clair College, Thames Campus Chatham, and previously a paediatric nurse practitioner at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. She devoted many hours to the Community Living Association for Chatham-Kent, the Chatham-Kent Integrated Children's Services, the Kent County Separate School Board, and was a long time member of the Chatham Granite Club. She will be missed by many loving Friends in Chatham and Toronto. The family would appreciate that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Community Living Association of Chatham-Kent. LINGLEY, Phyllis Mabel (née RANKINE)
Died on Monday, July 18, 2005, in Capitola, California. She lived to the ripe old age of 83. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April and was receiving care and counseling by the Hospice Caring Project of Santa Cruz during her stay at Pacific Coast Manor in Capitola. Phyllis was born on October 9, 1921 in Norval, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were John and Edith RANKINE of Ontario. As a young adult she lived in Toronto, Ontario, where she attended and graduated from Business School, got married and had her family. In 1955 she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, with her husband and three children. In 1960 the family moved to Santa Clara, California, where she worked as a secretary for the Boy Scouts of America. Later she worked at Stanford University in the Graduate School of Business. Eventually she became the office manager for the Trane Corporation in Sunnyvale for more than 20 years where she retired in 1984 at the age of 62. Phyllis had three brothers and one sister, Jack, Charlie, Doug and Hilda. Her parents and siblings predeceased her. Many loving family members in Canada survive her. In the California area her three children and their families, Paul and Janyce MACK of Pleasant Hill, Peter and Monica MACK of Castro Valley, and Suzanne and Robert "Bucky" HARRIS of Scott's Valley, survive her. Phyllis has three grandchildren, Alison McCLOSKEY, Courtney and Ryan MACK, and one great-grand_son, Rockwell "Rocky" McCLOSKEY. Phyllis is remembered as a hard working office manager, loving mother and wife , fun loving friend, superior cook and hostess, generous and giving spirit, spectacular grandmother to Alison, Courtney and Ryan, and awesome bridge player. She will also be remembered for her affectionate and warm heart, her ability to have fun and her extreme loyalty to family. A service is planned on August 7 at Cedar Lawn in Fremont, California, according to her wishes, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert Mackenzie LINGLEY. Daughter of "Red" and Rita (née MARTIN) McLOUGHLIN (deceased) and sister of Penelope. Beloved mother of Laura (& Jim OGDEN), Tracy (& Robert FLEET) and Scott McLOUGHLIN- MARRATTO (& Alexandra MORRISON.) Fiercely loving Grandma of Courtenay, Joshua, Scott and Liam FLEET, and Matt, Scotti, Amelie, and Seamus OGDEN who admired and respected her for her courage, style and extravagant sense of fun. Will be greatly missed by her dear Friends Carole and Phil MAZZA, Carole BOMANS, John and Sue LANGLOIS, and Jan McARDLE and her many other Friends. Lovingly remembered by Alayna MUNCE. Born in Malden Township, Essex County, daughter of the late Charles Campbell and Margaret Louise BRUSH) ATKINSON. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Preston BLIGHT (1997.) Dear mother of William C. BLIGHT and his wife Donna of Georgetown and Mary Louise ICELY and her husband Stephen of Aurora. Grandmother of Wesley BLIGHT and Sarah ICELY. Sister of Dorothy McCLOUNIE of Sarnia and the late Harold ATKINSON. Also surviving is a brother-in-law Allan CHAPPUS of LaSalle. Mrs. BLIGHT was a retired Elementary School teacher. The death occurred peacefully at Rowanwood Retirement Lodge, Utterson on Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Effie HODGSON of Novar in her 102nd year was the beloved wife of the late Elgin HODGSON and dear mother of Kendrick (Kay) and his wife Marilyn of Mississauga and Allen and his wife Wendy of Ballantrae. Loving grandmother of Robert (Audrey), Tom (Kathy), Lisa (Philip); and Catherine (Ian), Sherry (Richard) and Anne (Rob) and 13 great-grandchildren. Aunt of Alice McCLOY, Bill METZGER, Helen GUTHRIE, Effie GAMMON and Myrtle FAWCETT. Effie was a long time resident of Novar, dedicated organist and choir leader of Novar United Church and tireless United Church Women worker.
