At the Grey-Bruce Health Services in Southampton on Monday, June 12th, 2006, at the age of 94 years, the former Hilda NELSON, wife of the late Harold SUTHERLAND, mother of Don and his wife Carole SUTHERLAND, and Doug SUTHERLAND, all of Port Elgin, and Sandra and her husband Ray ROBERTS of Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, She is survived by four grandchildren, Susan and her husband George BROWN of Port Elgin, Cathy and her husband Steve EVERITT of Deep River, Sara and her husband Mark CAMPBELL of Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, and Mark ROBERTS and His partner Charene WEST of Maple Ridge, British Columbia. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Matthew BROWN, Jamie and Kyle EVERITT, and Brady and Parker CAMPBELL, and by one sister Gladys LAYCOCK of Newmarket. Of Wiarton passed away peacefully on Thursday September 28, 2006 at Saint Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, in his 57th year. Born in Dawn Twp., daughter of the late Morley (December 22, 2005) and Melba (née OLGETREE) JONES (December 5, 1978.) Loving wife of Donald Glen EARHART of London. Dear sister of Marie McDONALD of Saint Thomas, Ronald and Jean JONES of Petrolia and Harold and Beatrice JONES of Dresden. Also survived by a special niece Susan LYMAN and a great-nephew Victor LYMAN. Predeceased by her first husband Hugh EVERITT. Also survived by 2 chosen sons Gerald ELLIS of Calgary and Edward ELLIS of Ridgetown. Grandfather of Jordan, Christopher and Daniel KNIGHT, Maggie SEGEREN, Tanner and Tyler ELLIS. Great Grandfather of Juliana MARTIN. Brother of Joyce Gitt CONWAY and her husband Syd of Weston, Norine WALKER and Charles of Thamesville and the late John William COWAN (1938.) BIRD, William " Bill" Lawrence
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Lawrence BIRD on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at London Health Sciences Centre University Hospital. Bill was in his 63rd year. Born in London on June 12th, 1944. Lovingly remembered and will be sadly missed by Marilyn EVERITT. Bill is survived by his daughter Krisa GOSS her husband Gord and grand_sons Jordan and Nathan, his daughter Kimberley MILLER and husband Scott and grandchildren Logan and Morgan, his daughter Kelly BRIERE and her husband Russ and granddaughters Keaton and Rylea. Also survived by his dear sister Susan O'QUINN and his nephew Patrick and by his brother-in-law Leonard. Bill is predeceased by his father Robert V. BIRD (1973) and by his mother Dorothy G. (FEENEY) BIRD (1988) and his brother Robert G. BIRD (2001.) Bill will also be sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many Friends. Visitors will be received at John T. Criminals hanged back to back in Toronto's Don Jail
TURPIN, 29, of Toronto had killed a police officer in a Toronto street battle, while LUCAS, 54, of Detroit, had slashed the throats of a young woman and an American police informant. The execution was bungled. Cyril EVERITT, a Salvation Army chaplain and a witness to the hangings, said in 1986: " TURPIN went cleanly. But LUCAS, the heavier of the two, had too much rope for his weight. His head was almost torn off. He was pretty well decapitated; only the strength of the sinews in the neck kept the head attached to the body. There was blood everywhere, gushing out." It was the last execution in Canada.

Peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Grace Eleanor (nee WARD.) Loving father of Maureen and Michael (Jacqueline.) Much loved grandfather of Kellen and Natalie BRYSON. Sadly missed by his brother Jack (Marie,) his brother-in-law Robert PARSONS all of Woodstock, Harold COOK and by a sister-in-law Jean EVERSON. Bob is predeceased by his sister Kathleen PARSONS. Robert will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and Friends. Bob was a proud veteran of World War 2, and served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was also a member of the Ontario Provincial Police serving in the Brantford and Oakville detachments. Robert and Grace were proprietors of Bryson's Lunch and Variety until their retirement. A gathering of family and Friends to celebrate Bob's life will be held at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson Street, Brantford, on Sunday from 2: 00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. GUPPY, Frances Audrey (1923-2006)
Born in Toronto, Ontario, suffered a severe stroke in Toronto on Friday, November 24, 2006 as she was preparing to go swimming with her loving husband and favourite swimming partner, Mark. She died peacefully, without pain or suffering, on Thursday, November 30, 2006 in the very supportive palliative care unit at Scarborough Grace Hospital. At her side were her husband and three children, Neil (Vancouver), Bev (Pincher Creek, Alberta), and Barbie (London, England). She also will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Jean GILLIES, sons-in-law, Holly EVERTS and John SOUTHAM, and by her five grandchildren, Emma, Eliza (Adam), Marie, Will, and Wendy. Fran lived a fulfilling life, enriched by her Chatfield Drive neighbours, and her many other Friends throughout the country. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), on Sunday, December 3, 2006 for a service in the chapel at 4: 00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Leaside Room. ROSS, Mary Beatrice Graham (formerly BILLINGS)
Peacefully, in the company of her children, at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital on October 2, 2006 in her 88th year, after a lengthy illness following surgery in 2004. Mary was born in Kingston, Ontario, to Doctor Stanley and Beatrice GRAHAM and continued the family tradition of attending Queen's University. She was blessed in her marriages, first to Lt. Col. George Michael (Jim) BILLINGS who passed away in 1966, and then to Col. Richard (Dick) ROSS, who also predeceased her. She is survived by her devoted children, Rosemary, Jane (Ronald THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON) and Michael BILLINGS (Karen PHILLIPS,) her stepson Ken ROSS (Eileen,) stepdaughter Wendy EVES (Frank) and her sister, Barbara MUNRO. Her brother, Dr. Eric GRAHAM, predeceased her. She doted on her grandchildren, Robin BRENT (John), Alison BOOTH, Alexandra and Graham BILLINGS and Erin and Ian ROSS. Persuaded by her husband, Mary reluctantly became a high school teacher in 1961, teaching in Almonte, Germany, Sir Wilfrid Laurier in Ottawa and, lastly, Lisgar Collegiate, where she was an awesome Math teacher until she retired in 1978. She was the adored backbone of our family and will be deeply missed. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 125 MacKay Street, Ottawa, at 1: 00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry. No visitation.
