FORREST, Ivan Bruce
Peacefully at Sunnybrook Veterans' Hospital on 26 June, 2006. A graduate of Eastern Commerce High School, and forty-four year employee of the City of Toronto, he retired in 1983 after 19 years as Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. Ivan served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1946 and saw service in western Canada, the Yukon, and the European theatre. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife Lois (née McCAUGHAN,) his children Kim, Carole and Kevin, his son-in-law Paul NADEAU and daughter-in-law Susan FORREST. His memory will be cherished by his dear grandchildren Meghan, Emily, Andrew, Meredith, Elizabeth, Olivia, Isobel, and Edward; he was predeceased by sons Danny and Andrew. Ivan was loved and respected by his in-laws Sigurd CHRISTENSEN and Joe and Pat BOYD, by his many nieces, nephews and cousins, and many Friends and colleagues. He will always be remembered for his service to Toronto and to Canada, and his unwavering love of family. The family wishes to thank the staff of K2W and Doctor DIRENFELD for 10 years of exceptional care. Edward was born on October 10th, 1915 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was one of 13 children of the late Robert McCAUGHEY and Elizabeth RICE. Beloved husband of Geraldine (PELLETIER.) Dear father of Madeline (Albert) McINTOSH, Lorraine SINCLAIR and Carol (Melvin) CAREW all of London. Predeceased by his daughter Alice COUTURE (October 2004.) Father-in-law of Richard COUTURE of Windsor. It is with great sorrow that the family of Sarah FORD announce her sudden death, on April 30, 2006 at her home. Sarah will be sadly missed by her son David BURRELL and his wife Bonnie of Dorchester and her daughter Bonnie Jane BREKELMANS and her husband Rob of Kilworth. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Thelma (Jody) SAINT_JOHN and an infant son Bernard. Sarah is survived by four grandchildren; Nicole SAINT_JOHN, Jennifer (Joe) JOHNSTON, Stacey (Matt) DOWNING and Brad (Lily) SAINT_JOHN and six great-grandchildren and son-in-law Brian SAINT_JOHN. Aunt Sadie will be forever missed by her favourite niece Linda MORLEY, daughter of her late sister Dorothy DOWNIE. Sarah came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride, followed by her husband Bernard BURRELL. She was also predeceased by husbands Angus MacAULAY and Jim FORD. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who in her younger days loved to garden and knit for all her family. The family will receive Friends and relatives at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell), London, for visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Died peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2006 at The Edinburgh Retirement Residence in Ottawa. Nan had spent seven years there among caring pleasant friendly staff and residents. She was in her 95th year. Nan was the daughter of Marian MASSON and George Gordon GALE, sister of Charles Gordon GALE (deceased) and wife for 49 years of John (Jack) Cummings CHARLESON (deceased.) She is survived by her four daughters Barbara, Susan RIVERS (Vic,) Marian ROBINSON (Ted) and Janice MacAULAY (James). Their Nani will be sadly missed by grandchildren David and Heather RIVERS, Marian,▼ Margaret,▼ Brigid and James MacAULAY and great-grandchildren Victor, Sam, Hannah and Ethan. Nan was an accomplished portrait painter, a gifted needlewoman, an avid reader, and loved a good game of bridge. She contributed to her community through many volunteer activities. Nan was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, a life member of the May Court Club of Ottawa, the Ottawa Little Theatre and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, and for many years a member of the Ottawa Garden Club. Her gentle manor and grace blessed all those who knew her. EBY, Herbert Clifton
Herbert Clifton EBY of Feversham passed away in Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre on January 7, 2006 in his 90th year.
Herb was born in Elsinor, Ontario on August 8, 1916, the son of the late Gideon and Georgina EBY. In 1926 the EBY's left the farm at Elsinor and moved to Feversham and purchased what was to become known as "Eby's Store".
Herb aftended public and continuation school in Feversham and in 1936 he married Madge DAVIDSON. The young couple resided in the apartment above the family store and Herb worked for his father. In 1937 their son Stephen was born and shortly thereafter, Herb, Madge and baby moved to Barrie where he worked at a hardware store and drove a taxi.
In 1946 they returned to Feversham to take over the general store as the elder EBY's moved to Walters Falls. In 1950 their daughter, Sally May, was born. Herb purchased an insurance business from Norman HARRIS and for the next 15 years he and Madge operated the store and the insurance business.
Herb was an active member of many community organizations and as many of his generation was involved in getting what is now known as the "old community centre" established. He enjoyed many years in the bowling league there. The church was an important part of the EBY's life and for 40 years Herb was an Elder at Burns' Presbyterian Church in Feversham.
1986 was a landmark year for the EBY's as they celebrated 40 years of operating the store, their 50th wedding anniversary and made the decision to sell the store and retire to the home they purchased in the village.
Left to mourn his passing are Madge, his wife of 69 years, son Steve, daughter Sally, son-in-law John HOOD, grand_son Kevin HOOD, sisters Marguerite FORSYTH and Marion DOBIE as well as many nieces, nephews and Friends.
A funeral service was held in Burns Church on January 10, 2006 with Dr. David GLADWELL officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin HOOD, Todd ARMSTRONG, Scott ARDIEL, Bill BRISTOW, Wayne DAVIDSON, Lonnie HUDSON. Honourary pallbearers were Elmer MULLIN, Bruce DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS, Lloyd HUDSON, Burt HALE and Murray LASHOVICH.
Flowerbearers were Reta PHILLIPS, Bonnie DAVIDSON, Carol WAGSTAFF, Mary Lynn McCAULEY, Pamela BRISTOW, Cindi ALLEN, April HUBBARD, Lois PLUMMER and Jane ARDIEL. An excellent eulogy was provided by Burt HALE and a reading by John HOOD. Evelyn DARGAVEL and Kenton HUDSON shared their gift of music and Burt HALE, Rev. Charles JACKSON, Barbara SHIER and Kenton HUDSON sang "Because He Lives". Following the service a large crowd enjoyed the wonderful lunch organized by the Osprey Museum Committee assisted by Friends in the community.

Peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2006 surrounded by the love of her family at the Country Lane Nursing Home in Chatsworth in her 85th year. The former Dorothea McCAULEY was the beloved wife of the late Ross Winson REID. She▼ will be sadly missed by her children and their spouses Darwin and Sharon, David and Lois, Patricia and Bill SLUMSKIE. Dorothea was predeceased by a daughter Karen THORNLEY, a son-in-law: Ted THORNLEY, a granddaughter Victoria THORNLEY and a brother-in-law Frank DICKSON/DIXON. Loving sister of Jack (Aulda) McCAULEY, Ada (Ivan) CARMICHAEL, and Christina “Ruby” DICKSON/DIXON and also a sister-in-law Marjorie MURRAY. "May she dance by the light of the moon, the moon, may she dance by the light of the moon."
As we sang her sweet dreams and said our goodbyes, Alice VAN DIEPEN (POMEROY) left us to dance with the stars on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in her 93rd year. A truly remarkable woman, Alice, forever known as Pommey, lived an incredible life. The saddened hearts of her daughters Kristin (Gordon) JOHNSON and Linda (Don) JONES and son Rudi VAN DIEPEN, will be lightened with all of the memories of her wonderful years. Pommey's 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren were blessed to know such an amazing lady and value every wise word and treasured memory she ever shared. Always quick with her wonderful smile and wit, generous with her hugs and kisses, she was the definition of love, strength and courage. As a graduate of the Victoria School of Nursing (1936), she nurtured and nursed all those around her, including her husband Glenn (1989) and her daughter Mary (1986). As we wrap ourselves in the homemade afghans, don our wool mitts and hats, and snuggle with the knit toys, all of those close to her will know her loving embrace will be with us forever. Her unequivocal love and understanding, her ability to see the good in everyone, and her open-mindedness to accept all for who they are, have become lessons in life to be carried on by those of us that loved her. The staff at London Health Sciences Centre provided wonderful care and we offer a special thank you to Doctor Dorli HERMAN and Dr. Bill McCAULEY for their help and comfort in Alice's last days. Passed away Sunday, January 15th, 2006 after a long bout with cancer. Dale has now joined his predeceased mother Alice and father Jim and brothers Gary and Johnny. Passed away in his 82nd year at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, with his wife and children by his side. Born in Maberly, Ontario. son of the late Pearl and Kenneth McLEOD. Beloved husband of Patricia Rea (née McCAULEY.) Cherished father of Kenneth Ian and his wife Alison of Whitby, and Elizabeth Anne and her husband Eric HUISMAN of Washago. Proud grandfather of Lauren and Robert McLEOD and Victoria and Meaghan HUISMAN. Dear brother of Malcolm (predeceased) and his wife Shirley of Smiths Falls. Brother-in-law of Dr. Kenneth McCAULEY and his wife Patricia of Milton. Fondly remembered by nieces Susan, Sandra and Carolyn and nephews Bruce and Christopher. Bob was a graduate of Smiths Falls Collegiate, Ottawa Normal School and the University of Toronto. He was also one of the founders of the Oshawa Symphony Orchestra and former member of the Motor City Choir. Sadly, on Saturday, April 22, 2006, Jimmy reached the end of his rainbow, surrounded by his loving family and the grace of God. Dearly beloved husband of Heather and survived by his daughter Marnie Rae MALONE, step-daughters Elizabeth and Jessica PACEY, all of whom deeply loved and cherished him, his loving sister Ann, nephew Paul FAULKNER, nieces Patti-Ann DI QUATTRO and Erin FAULKNER, and his sister-in-law Maureen MALONE. Adored best buddy of grand_son Evan James PACEY. He is also survived by daughter Shannon McCAULEY and granddaughter Nicole McCAULEY of Florida. Predeceased by his brothers Pat and Brian.
