MULLIGAN, William " Bill" Orr
Formerly of 33 Broadway, Kennebecasis Park, Rothesay, New Brunswick died quietly at home Sunday, April 16, 2006. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on December 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Rev. William and Amaret (CAIRNS) MULLIGAN. His family moved from Halifax, to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island then to Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. They purchased a summer house in Black Rock and maintained a connection to Cape Breton Island from then on. They moved on to Montreal, Québec where Bill spent his formative years. Bill fought with the First Hussars (6th Canadian Armoured Regiment) during World War 2 and crossed the beachheads on D-day 1944. After the war he attended McGill University and received a degree in dentistry. He served at M.A.S.H. units in the Canadian Dental Corps during the Korean Conflict. After Korea he obtained a degree in Orthodontics from the Université de Montreal. He set up his Orthodontic practice in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1957. In 1958 he married Gerry WHITE/WHYTE whom he had known since childhood in Sydney Mines. Bill was a long time elder and pillar of Saint_John and St. Stephen Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, and the Canadian Dental Association. Bill was kind, he was generous, he appreciated the ridiculous. He loved fine food ('One should be venturesome when it comes to food!'). He loved travel to tropical locales. He never forgot to drop a postcard to his Friends. He chronicled our lives in slides and movies. He adored his granddaughters. He is survived by 2 daughters, Dr. Lois MULLIGAN (Robert McCLEAVE) of Kingston, Ontario and Dr. Jane MULLIGAN (Dr. Greg GRUDIC) of Niwot, Colorado, and by 3 granddaughters Amaret GRUDIC and Lily and Rose McCLEAVE, nieces Kerry, Kathy and Tara and nephew Kevin. He was predeceased by his wife Gerry and his twin brother Thomas. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (506-634-7424) with visiting from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on April 27. Beloved sister of Carolyn (Bob MURRAY) and Nancy (late Mike CAMPBELL.) Devoted wife of Bob. Marilyn had faced health challenges which were daunting in recent years but she was surrounded with the strength and love of her family to help her through. Marilyn was the proud mother of Jill (Wayne McCLEAVE), Peter (Lynn), Jane (Tony MARCOTULLIO). Cherished grandma to Kira (Ed), Adam (Melissa), Sarah, Nathan, Jenna, and great-grandma to Ethan and Griffin. Marilyn was predeceased by her infant son Christopher. Those who knew Marilyn will remember and celebrate that she lived life to the fullest with family as her first priority enjoying laughter, music, and family time. Marilyn worked for most of her career at Sheridan College as Manager of the Book Store where she enjoyed the young people. Sadly missed by 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Roberta was born in Noël Hants County, Nova Scotia the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (O'BRIEN) McLELLAN. She has lived in Saint Thomas area over 55 years. Roberta taught public school at Centennial Ave., Homedale, New Sarum and over 12 years at S.S. #17. She was a member of Central United Church and the Wohelo Group and Philathea Group of Central United Church. Peacefully at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Dearly loved sister of Judd (Dale), Bert (previously deceased) and Lee (Celia) and admired aunt to Chris, Kent, Sheri, Anthony and Craig. Noni was the long time companion and great friend of Barb McLELLAN and was greatly saddened when a stroke took Barb this past July. Noni and Barb hiked the Bruce Trail together, end to end. They were both well known for their philanthropy in many and various causes. Noni, a truly great lady in every sense, will be sadly missed by all her family and loyal Friends. The family gives grateful thanks to all the nurturing caregivers at Carpenter Hospice and especially to Friends Mildred KNIGHT, Jim and Marion McLELLAN for their loving support. There will be no funeral service but a private internment will be held in the spring. With quiet dignity and grace on Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Westbury Long Term Care Facility, Stephanie SOSINSKY, in her 88th year, dearly beloved wife of the late Harry SOSINSKY. Beloved mother of Maria and her husband Richard McLELLAN, Barb and her husband Joe MORONEY, and Darya SOSINSKY. Loving Baba of Ian and Stuart. Predeceased by her siblings Walter and his wife Mary ZAZINSKY, Mary CHADWICK, Joe ZAZINSKY and Ed ZAZINSKY. Dear sister-in-law of Emily ZAZINKSY and Peter SOSINSKY. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and Friends. Stephanie was deeply guided by her faith and was completely devoted to her family. Although she was reserved, she was warm, generous, resourceful and a true and loyal friend to many. She was a woman of incredible quiet strength and conviction. She was a talented singer, dancer, seamstress, decorator and gardener, and she loved her desserts. She never looked her age. Married at 29 and widowed at 49 with three young daughters, she returned to the workforce and was employed steadily until she retired at age 81. She and Harry were proud founding members of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Etobicoke and she was a longtime church choir member. The family will receive their Friends at the Newediuk Funeral Home, Kipling Chapel, 2104 Kipling Avenue (2 blocks north of Rexdale Boulevard), from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Suddenly at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. Lois McLELLAN (née BRITTAIN) of Holland Landing and formerly of Scarborough, at 50 years of age. Beloved wife of Rick for 24 years. Loving mother of Kim and Brad. Cherished daughter of Harold and Lillian McLELLAN. Dear sister of Paul BRITTAIN. Dear daughter-in-law of Reverend Ken McLELLAN and Barbara OTLEY. Special friend of Tricia CRESSWELL and family. Lois will be sadly missed by relatives and Friends. Friends may call at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford for visitation on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Victory Baptist Church, 18408 Yonge Street, Newmarket on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. BRARD, Hubert
70 years, on February 14, 2006. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, Papito and Pépé. Precious husband, greatest love, "Monin" and best friend of 44 years of Alicia (née ZUNIGA.) The most special and very proud father of Suzanne POZZUOLI and husband Mauro, Michelle LEPERA and husband Johnny, Solange BRARD and fiancé Tim McLELLAN and Hubert P. BRARD. Dearest Pepe of Julia, Johnny Jr., Mauro Jr. and Marco and special grandfather to Matthew and Erika POZZUOLI. Brother of Lucie and Marcelle and the late Gaston BRARD. Brother-in-law of Jorge ZUNIGA (Elodia,) Fernando ZUNIGA (Doris.) Cherished Tio of many nieces and nephews in Chile, New York and Windsor. Best friend of Cesar and Gabriella CARVALLO. Sadly missed by so many Friends. Hubert was a retired employee of Chrysler Canada where for many years his daughter and "Partner" Solange worked side by side. He was a courageous and brave man bringing his family to Canada in 1974 from Santiago, Chile. His children are a testament of his sacrifice. Hubert had immeasurable love for his family and was well known for his sense of humour and taught his grandchildren all his tricks. "Bon nuit Papito querido, te adoramos." As an expression of sympathy please donate to the Hemophilia Society, Southwest Region of Ontario. Visitation will be held at the Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh (519-735-2830) on Friday, February 17, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. to St. Rose de Lima Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Inurnment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of Hubert BRARD in the Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held on September 24, 2006. All are welcome.
