A lifelong area resident, passed away at the Elgin Manor, R.R.#1, Saint Thomas on Sunday, January 15, 2006, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Basil T. McGUGAN (1983.) Dearly loved mother of Brenda McCLURE and her husband Leonard of Heathrow, Florida, and Roger GRAVELLE and his wife Elizabeth of Saint Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Craig WILLIAMS of Florida, Cindy HOLLINGSHEAD and her husband Peter of Aylmer, Sheldon GRAVELLE and his wife Sharyn of Oakville, and Brent GRAVELLE and his wife Raven of Oklahoma. Also survived by a number of great grandchildren. A brother, Wilbert A. "Bill" LANGS died in 1990. Born in Yarmouth Centre, Ontario, October 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert "Bert" and Zeda (GLOIN) LANGS. Mrs. McGUGAN was a retired employee of Gorman Rupp Ltd., Saint Thomas and a former employee of Timken Canada. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be made in the Saint Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. A public memorial service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Saturday, January 28th at 1 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Peacefully at University Hospital on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (BICKNELL) GLOIN. Dear father of Brian GLOIN and his wife Debra▲ of Strathroy and Dianne RITZ of London. Loving grandfather of Matt (John Paul,) Ben (Liz), Kasandra and James. John was lovingly called "Prof" by his Friends and family. He had a teaching career that spanned nearly four decades. He started teaching in a one room school in the small community of Dunboyne at the age of 18. He later taught in Maidstone and was principal of an elementary school in Glencoe. He returned to university and acquired his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. In 1948, he came to London where he taught history and was head of the history department at South Collegiate until he retired in 1977. During his teaching career, he acquired his Masters of Education degree from the University of Toronto and was quite involved in the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation. John was a fifty year member of the Kilwinning Lodge #64, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Scottish Rite in the 32nd degree. John was also a member of Mocha Temple. Friends may call on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 Saint_James Street at Richmond where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 8 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery. In his 72nd year, rode from this life to the next on January 3, 2006, near Hyde Park. Loved husband of Maria (née RUSIN.) Dear father of Stanley and Theresa (Burlington), Edward (Sausalito, California), Maria Katherine and William GLOVER (Saint Thomas), Michael (North Port, Florida), and Genevieve (London). Beloved grandfather of Richard and Stephanie KONEFAL, Sarah and Rebecca GLOVER, and Emmanuel, Aristotle, Anastasia and Sebastian KONEFAL- ROVITHIS. Survived by his brother Stanley KONEFAL, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Stanley and Stella RUSIN, and other dear family and Friends. He was predeceased by his sister Sophie KRAWIEC. Born to a farming life in Kopcie, Poland, Walter and his family cherished their Polish heritage. In the early 1960's, Walter brought his young family to Toronto and then moved to London in the 1970's. In 1984, Walter and Maria returned to their roots on a 14 acre farm outside of London where Walter focused on his family. He enjoyed tending to his farm animals and his hobbies including mechanics and electronics. Even before successful heart surgery in 2004, Walter embraced a healthy lifestyle and continued with exercise to the end. Special thanks to the good samaritan who applied cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to this determined cyclist at the roadside. Dear son of the late Gordon and Irene (PLEWES) ENGLAND. Dear father of Sandra and her husband Rick ALDINGTON of London, Ontario, Graham and his wife Linda of Huntsville, Ontario, Jennifer and her husband Robert BROWN of Milton, Ontario. Beloved grandfather of Michelle and her husband Doctor Andrew ADAM/ADAMS and their son Benjamin Ty ADAM/ADAMS, Scott,▼ Lori▼ and Jennifer ALDINGTON; Mark and Craig ENGLAND and Derek, Jessica and Graeme BROWN. World War 2., 1940 to 1945 in Canada, United Kingdom and the European theatre. Following▼ the war, Doctor ENGLAND did his post graduate training leading to the F.R.C.P.C. in 1949. He practiced internal medicine in London, Ontario from 1949 to 1972 and was a member of the Medical staff of Victoria, Saint_Joseph's and Westminster Hospitals. From 1973 to 1981 he was staff health physician at London Life Insurance Company. Nelles was past president of the Harvey Club of London 1959 and the London Academy of Medicine 1962. He was a member of the London Hunt and Country Club and the Vimy Branch No. 145 of the Royal Canadian Legion. The family will receive Friends from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, at the A. Passed away suddenly of heart failure at his residence in Toronto on March 19, 2006, age 64 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather (née LING) and proud and loving father of Craig, Elissa (Josh RANDELL) and Kate. He is survived in British Columbia by his brother Brett (Carol Ann GLOVER) and sisters Fawn (Jim) KNOX and Vicki (Doug) McKEE. Also survived in Prince Edward Island by his mother-in-law Dorothy (Baker LING) ROPER, brother-in-law Dr. Don (Mary K) LING and sister-in-law Karen (Lornie) WOOD. Graduate of University of British Columbia (B.A.) and Carleton (M.A. Canadian Studies.) A job at TVOntario in 1972 began his long-standing involvement in the Canadian television industry, primarily with his own company, Ironstar Communications. Upon retiring, Derek fulfilled the dream of a family trip to Africa and a successful assault of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Well known as a "people person", he will be greatly missed as a warm and loving family-man, a true friend, a respected businessman, an exceptional athlete, a fount of historical and geographical knowledge, and with a fondness for things Scottish, especially celebrating in the tradition of Robbie Burns. SZYNDLER, Jerzy Kazimierz
With great strength and dignity our beloved father passed away peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre November 14, 2006 in his 85th year. Born in Zloczow, Poland, June 20, 1921 he was the son of the late Col. Czeslaw and Maria (née GLOWACKA) SZYNDLER. After escaping from Poland at the outbreak of World War 2 he found refuge in England along with his family. A veteran of the Second World War, Jerzy joined Allied Forces and served as a Second Lieutenant with The Polish 1st Armoured Division from 1940 to 1946. He looked back at his participation in World War 2 with a great sense of pride, seeing action in Normandy on D-Day, participating in The Battle of Falaise Gap and Wilhelmshaven. Jerzy settled in England after the war where he worked as a Graphic Artist for many years, finally immigrating to Canada in 1984. A man with a great sense of pride for his family and a true love for nature, he will be deeply missed. "We love you Tata". He is survived by his children, daughters Janina, Nasreen (Gerhard SCHULZ) and Joe, son Jakub "Jake," beloved daughter-in-law Cathy and dearly loved grandchildren Karina, Gabriella, Martha, Angus and Tilly.
