month long courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his

FAUMAN. Peter was born in Edmonton
and educated there and
at Saint Andrew's College, Ontario. He
graduated from the University of Alberta with an Honours degree
and Gold Medal in Commerce. From 1962 to 1963 he was a Knox Fellow
in Economics at Harvard University. He graduated from the University
of British Columbia with a Law degree in 1966 and commenced articles
at Farris and Company. In 1970 he was a founding partner in the
law firm Fraser Hyndman. Peter loved the outdoors, particularly
the rivers and streams where he enjoyed his passion for fly-fishing.
He was a founding director of the Pacific Salmon Society and
the Steelhead Society and helped in the fight to save the Skagit
River. Active in politics all his life, he was president of the
Progressive Conservative Party of British Columbia from 1970 to
1972 and from 1975 to 1977 he was president of the British Columbia
Social Credit Party. Peter was Legislature 1979 and Consumer
from 1980 elected to the Provincial for Vancouver South in served
as Minister of and Corporate Affairs to 1982. He returned to
private law practice in 1983 and in 1990 joined The Loewen Group
Inc. as Senior Vice-President, Law and Corporate Secretary. In
1998 he became Associate Counsel with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin
LLP where he continued his practice to this date. Peter was
also one of the founding directors of Arctic Glacier Income Trust
in 1996, remaining on its board since then. Currently he was
active in the British Columbia Liberal Party and was co-chair
of the Vancouver Civic NPA election team in November, 2005.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held at 5: 00 p.m., Tuesday,
September 12th at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, 4300 S.W.
Marine Dr., Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made

1985. He was a member of the Wainfleet Congregational Christian
Church and was an active member of the Rexdale Lacrosse League.

and Youth, a founding Board Member of Weldon Park Academy London,
a volunteer at C.P.R.I. London, and as a vice-president of Big
Brothers and Sisters of Montreal. She had a deep love for animals,
