Born in Southwold Township, June 5, 1914, the
son of the late
John A. and Bessie
(HUNTER)
LYLE. He was a retired farmer and
was noted for his work in the Cattleman's Association. Gordon
was a member of First United Church, Saint Thomas since 1956, formerly
being active in various capacities within the church. Friends
will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street,
Saint Thomas on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral
service will be held Friday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment in the Saint Thomas
Cemetery, West Avenue. Memorial donations to the Elgin Manor
Residents Council, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or
the Alzheimer Society gratefully acknowledged.

and a number of nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Chicago
on February 25, 1927, the
son of the late Charles and Rosannie
(GLENN)
FERGUSON. He resided in the Union, Port Stanley and Saint Thomas
areas most of his life. Bill was a retired sales tax auditor
with the Provincial Government. He was a member of Saint Mark's
Lodge #94 Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Port Stanley, Ancient
and Accepted Scottish Rite. London Lodge of Perfection, London
Chapter Rose Croix, Moore Sovereign Consistory, Hamilton 32nd degree,
the Provost Corps. and was a Jester. He had played baseball,
fastball and hockey and coached minor sports a number of years.
Bill was a Past President of the Saint Thomas Curling Club, past
member of the Saint Thomas Golf Club and the Belmont Golf Club.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where
funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1: 00 p.m. Visitation
on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Flowers
gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the Shriners
Hospitals for Children or charity of choice. A Memorial Masonic
Service will be conducted at the funeral home by Officers and
Members of the Saint Mark's Lodge #94 of Port Stanley on Wednesday
evening at 6: 30 p.m.

M. (1913-2006)
Passed away, peacefully, at his home in Kitchener, on Friday,
March 17, 2006 at the age of 92. He was a loving and devoted
husband and father and will be sadly missed by his wife of almost
50 years, Lorena; his children Lesley and Tim, Joan and Cesar,
and Barb; his grandchildren Bruce and Amy, Lesley-Ann and Derek,
Laura, Lauren and Kaitlyn; and his great-grandchildren Kiera
and Rogan. He will also be missed by Adrienne and Jim, Phyllis,
Dorothy, Alice and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by
his first wife Helen, brother Ralph and his wife Thelma. Born
in Prince Edward Island, raised in Prince Albert, Ontario, Dad
graduated in 1938 from Optometry. He spent nearly 20 years practicing
Optometry in Winnipeg. In 1942, he entered the Canadian Army,
and was honourably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Captain.
In 1965 he became the first Canadian to complete his Ph.D. in
Physiological Optics, then returned to teach at the College of
Optometry in Toronto. In 1967, he became one of the first five
faculty members of the School of Optometry at the University
of Waterloo. Dad enjoyed travel, photography and good Friends.
His undefeatable sense of humour buoyed us all to the end. Cremation
has taken place. Please join us in celebrating the life of Bill
LYLE at Faith Missionary Church, 3849 King Street East, Kitchener,
on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow
at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in his
