STERN, May
Unexpectedly but peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2006, in Nanaimo, British Columbia She was 75. A vibrant and vivacious force of nature, May was the loving mother and mother-in-law of Richard and Sandy, Perry, and Cindy and Mike, sister and sister-in-law of Nathan and Carol WEINBERG, caring partner to Herschel SHORE and adored grandmother of Mark, Faryn, Meaghan, Jordyn and Nikki. Daughter of the late Fannie and Israel WEINBERG, she was the wife of the late Morris J. (Moishe) STERN, sister and sister-in-law to the late Pearl and David SURDIN. May's Friendship and caring knew no bounds and those lucky enough to fall within radius of her enormously generous personality rarely left her presence without a laugh and a smile. Any friend she made remained so for life, from girlhood at College and Bathurst, as a young married couple with Moishe in Hamilton, through the years back in Toronto, before and after Moishe's death, and then on to an exciting "new" life on Vancouver Island. She will be sorely missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless Friends as well as every salesperson, waiter and hairdresser she ever came in contact with and drew into one of her innumerable conspiracies. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West, (three lights west of Dufferin) for service on Monday, March 13, at 1: 30 p.m. Interment Shaarei Shomayim Section at McCowan Road Cemetery. Shiva 112 Mona Drive, Toronto. Donations may be made in May's name to the Stephen Lewis Foundation, 416-533-9222.

O'NEILL, James " Jim"
Died peacefully on January 9, 2006. Husband to Carol AUSTIN, father to Andrea O'NEILL, son of the late Eva and James O'NEILL, brother to Shirley SURRAGE and her husband Ken and to Jackie FRENCH and her husband Norman, uncle to Elaine, Debbie, Gail, Sarah, Emma, friend to Eva's second husband Sid, son-in-law to Joan and the late Ted AUSTIN, and brother-in-law to Vicki AUSTIN and James PARSONS, and to Kathy AUSTIN and Mike STOREY, friend and colleague to many who will miss him dearly. A native of England, Jim came to Canada 41 years ago. After many stops and adventures along the way, Jim eventually settled in Markham, Ontario with his beloved best friend Carol. Jim enjoyed travel, and as a race car enthusiast, he and Friends made many a road trip to the international venues of the sport. One of his favourite holidays was a warm break to the Caribbean to roam the beaches and sail among the islands. Jim was an avid reader and loved maritime history, animals, and music. Jim's honest and gentle manner, his broad intellect, and his keen sense of humour will colour our many fond memories. To know Jim was to love and trust him - he was a wonderful person. The support and compassion shown to Carol and Jim by their many colleagues and Friends, and by the staff at the Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre and the Markham-Stouffville Hospital is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, Friends and relatives can make a donation to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to Habitat for Humanity. A memorial service for Jim will be held at 2: 00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006 at The Simple Alternative, 275 Lesmill Road, Don Mills.
