ELKAN, Valentina (née BLAUBERG)
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia on March 8, 1916, died at home in Toronto on September 25, 2006. Predeceased by her beloved first husband Lucas ACLIROS, and her second husband Tibor ELKAN. Mourned by her dear older sister Ludmilla DJURKOVIC and husband Vlado (Melbourne, Australia,) and cousin Karin HASBARGEN and husband Freerk (Denmark, Australia). Much missed by her sons Serge Liros (Blue Hill, Maine) and friend Kathy BEAL, Alex LIROS (Toronto) and George LIROS (Easton, Pennsylvania.) Lovingly remembered by her four grand-daughters: Nicole SIMMS and husband Jonathan and their two children Dylan and Hannah (Schenectady, New York), Christina LIROS and Joe RICHARDS (Greenville, Maine), Sara VEGA- LIROS and Janice and their family (Turner's Falls, Massachusetts), and Alexandra LIROS (Greenville, Maine.) Also missed by her best and oldest Friends: Herta and Tony HITZELBERGER (Kelowna, B.C.,) Agnes LANTOS and her sister (Toronto,) and Ludmilla SEMENA (Ottawa.) Very fondly remember by many Friends and neighbours, and by her devoted bridge partners. She was an elegant lady, a former art dealer with a keen and enquiring eye, and a generous and loving matriarch of the Liros family. At Thamesview Lodge, Chatham on Friday morning, March 31st, 2006. Esther KIRSCHNER (VEGH) of West Lorne in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Adam (1982). Lovingly remembered by her children Esther WAKERELL of London, Fred and Chris of West Lorne, Jerry (1971) and Pam of Saint Thomas, Ronald (1998) and Darlene of Rodney, Marv KELSO and Barb of Innerkip, Bonnie McGILL and Andy of West Lorne, Nancy McINTOSH and Angus of London, Elaine SHARPE and Ron of Wardsville, Carolyn MADSEN of Fort Erie, Gloria FISHER and John of Muncey, Roger (2003) and Shirley of West Lorne, Rose LUMLEY and Wayne of Glencoe and Margie MEZENBERG and Joe of West Lorne. Survived by 37 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren, brothers Ted VEGH of Louisiana and Alex VEGH of Windsor and sisters Tillie of Windsor and Velma of Leamington. Predeceased by grand_son Richard (1966) and great grandchildren Samantha MEZENBERG (1980) and Joshua (1998). Esther was expecting 2 new great grandchildren. Friends may call at the West Lorne Chapel on Monday evening 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted from the chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor J. MEZENBERG officiating. On Saturday, January 21, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital. Dr. Rochelle GROSS loving mother and mother-in-law of Evan GROSS, Stephanie GROSS, and Wendy GROSS and George VEGH. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lorne and Judy, and Barry and Edie ZON. Devoted grandmother of Zoe, and Molly. Rochelle will be sadly missed by her many relatives, Friends and loyal patients. VEGSO, Mary Elizabeth (SEBESTYEN)
After a short illness, on Monday, February 13, 2006, Mary Elizabeth VEGSO (SEBESTYEN) of R.R.#3 Strathroy in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Frank VEGSO. Treasured mother of Robert and Mary VEGSO, Gary and Cathy VEGSO, David and Kimberley VEGSO, Mark and Susan VEGSO, all of Strathroy and Randy and Beth VEGSO of London. Loving Nana of 8 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Frank SEBESTYEN of Belle River. Mary was born in Hungary and moved to Canada at the age of six. Friends will be received at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Wednesday, February 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home Wednesday at 6: 30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy on Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m. with Father John SHARP officiating. Interment in Strathroy Cemetery. Donations to your charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Mary.
