McROBERTS, Edith Norine (née MacHAM)
Peacefully at the Montfort Hospital, Ottawa, Edith Norine (nee MacHAM,) a dear and gentle soul, slipped quietly into the presence of the Lord Thursday morning, July 13, 2006, at the age of 102. Beloved wife of the late Delmont Ray McROBERTS (predeceased in 1996;) Cherished mother of Patricia Ann FANCY and Robert Allan (Marylyn); "Gram" will be sadly missed by grandchildren Peter FANCY (Natalia), Robin FANCY, Rebecca (Giff SHEARER), Steve McROBERTS (Michelle) and Phil McROBERTS (Libby,) and by great grandchildren, Jared, Laura, Ethan, Jennifer, Victoria, Katie and Grace. Also will be missed by Rick FANCY (Vista,) Eleanor COX and all Edith's Red Hat group. Born on a farm near New Lowell, Ontario before the time when automobiles, electricity, indoor plumbing and telephones became common household amenities, Edith was blessed with wonderful memories and stories from a bygone era. She lived by the deep values and qualities of that era in a godly way before her family and Friends. Edith taught in several rural one-room schools in the 1920s and 1930s, and then in Ottawa area schools after her marriage and while raising a family. She retired in 1968. She was a member of Dominion (later Dominion-Chalmers) United Church for 60 years and was an active member of their Unit 8 ministry group. In her latter years she was known as the oldest member of the Royal Flush chapter of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed many outings with them up to her 102nd birthday in March. Having taught and memorized much of the poetry from the old Ontario readers, she knew well the words of Alfred Lord Tennyson, "The old order changeth, yielding place to new, and God fulfills Himself in many ways, lest one good custom should corrupt the world." This one good custom -- Edith -- has left an indelible mark on all those she touched. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa (613-233-1143) on Sunday, July 16, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006 at 11: 30 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa. McHARDY- GRAVELLE, Sandra
In Loving memory of my dear friend Sandra, who passed away December 19, There is often one special person you meet in life. Sometimes they are part of your family and sometimes you meet them by fate. Sam was my best friend from Elementary School. She shared with others this unconditional love that was in her heart. Sam would help you feel pride in yourself and self esteem. She gave you the feeling that the sky was the limit if you wanted it to be that way. God created a special mold when he created Sam because she was one of a kind, truly unique. A spirit so special you felt her presence through good times and bad. May she rest knowing how special she was and how she touched so many hearts with her smile. Sam will not be forgotten. She was an irreplaceable mother who truly knew the definition of mother, a loving daughter and a true friend never to be forgotten. Sadly missed and never forgotten, your friend Tammi.

CAVE, Richard " Dick," P.Eng. (August 29, 1943-February 26, 2006)
son of Frank and Hilda (née HOWE) CAVE
Peacefully, at La Farm in Duncan, Ontario and surrounded by his loving family and Friends, both at home and abroad, both with us and in heaven, our amazing husband, dad, guardian angel, grand-dad, uncle, cherished friend and valued colleague, passed graciously into a space filled with beauty, light, energy and peace for safekeeping, until we are all reunited. He leaves his adoring wife, Sally LEPPARD, partner of 18 years. By his side, throughout his 4 year battle with cancer, and for always, are his treasured and adored children - Emma (and Brian), Steve (and Kerry), Kate (and Kris,) Liz NIELD (née McHARDY, and Jim,) Louise (and Chris,) Jamie McHARDY, and his precious and beloved granddaughter, Sarah Grace. His sister Sue and husband Dave WHITEHEAD came from Cornwall, England to be by his side. He will always be loved by his special extended family - Sue CORKE, Jenny, Joel and Gabrielle HELMAN, Dave LEPPARD, Luce KENNEDY, Helen, Paul and Daniel RUSSELL, Jeremy and Amanda, Katie, Simon, Guy and Heidi, Miranda and Toby, Bob and Joan, Shylah and Austin, Sylvie, Bernhard and Baby Yannick, Mark, Barbara, Julian and Clee (and children), and beloved parents-in-law John and Jocey LEPPARD, and all of our children's dearest Friends ("the Urban Terrorists"). Dick's humour, wit, tall tales and strength of character will be sadly missed by his many great Friends. Throughout his last few weeks, you have helped us enormously with snow plowing, dishwashing, great food and wine, books, fine company, paintings, fun and laughter, and gifts of love and kindness too numerous to mention. Dick had a career full of achievements and 'firsts'. After emigrating from Derby, England as a Civil Engineer in 1969, he worked with Kilbourn Engineering until 1984 when he founded the Ontario-based R. Cave and Associates Engineering Inc. There he nurtured a tradition of creative, pragmatic and holistic engineering solutions to Canada's waste management and ecological problems. He finished his career with Trow Consulting in Brampton. Our family's grateful thanks go to those who cared for Dick in his last stage of life - the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, the Owen Sound Community Care Access Centre home care team and nurses Lorraine, Royanne, Sue and Laurie, and "spa lady" Sharon, Dr. and Mrs. Tony ROWLINSON, Joyce STRAITON, Dr. Jennifer KNOX and Bettina of Princess Margaret Hospital, and Dr. Marwan FAKIH of Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Your safety net was invaluable and gave us enormous hope over the last year and kindness and caring in the last few weeks. Dick is in our hearts, spirits, souls and minds, and his huge presence will be forever with us. "the candle burned out long before the legend ever did" -- E.J.A. memorial to Dick will be held at Bethany Church of the Nazarene, Trowbridge Street West in Meaford, Ontario on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 1: 30 p.m. As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Georgian Triangle Hospice would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford N4L 1B9 (519-538-1320) to whom arrangements have been entrusted.
