funny, strong, well-read, friendly, and resourceful, Judy loved
jazz and sang in a trio in her high school and university days.
She made beautiful pottery, grew fabulous hydrangeas, and enjoyed
hiking along the Galloping Goose Trail with her dog Purdy. For

After a richly blest and fully rounded life, Bruce sailed beyond
the horizon on the 26th of December, 2006 at the Hamilton General
Hospital in his 88th year after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved
husband of the late Beth, and the loving and highly respected
father of Kim, Cam, Kirk and Ann Elise whose accomplishments
made him immensely proud. Devoted father-in-law of Marilyn, Cathy
and Carrie. Dearly loved Grandpa of Laura, Jerrod Bruce, Scott,
Erica and Bryan. Special uncle of Susan

Dearest companion and partner of Betty
BARNES.
Predeceased by his parents Lucetta (Merriam) and Frank, and his
sisters Elsie, Eva and Alma. Bruce attended Sault Collegiate
Institute and was its representative at the Coronation of King
George the Sixth. He was a graduate of the Faculty of Law at
the University of Toronto (Victoria College) (Class of '41) and
of the Ontario College of Education where he was Class President.
In the Second World War, he served with Second Division Signals
throughout the European campaign including Verrieres Ridge with
the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He took great pride from the
fact that his 35 men won no less than 12 decorations for valour
and dedication. Bruce had a long career with the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation as an announcer and radio host. For 23 years his
morning show 'Toast and Jamboree' was a staple in thousands of
household s on both sides of the border. For many years he was
president of Humber Highland Curling Club and of the Toronto
Marine Historical Society. He was the first Honorary Mayor of
Black Creek Pioneer Village and served on the Metro Conservation
Foundation. He received the Queens Confederation Medal, the North
York Civic Award and the Ontario Volunteer Award. Bruce was a
member of the Probus Club of Burlington, Branch 60 of the Royal
Canadian Legion, the Signals Officers Club, and Monday Men's
at Wellington Square United Church. Cremation has taken place.
