Peacefully at the Humber River Regional Hospital - Church Site on January 2nd, 2006 in his 99th year. Predeceased by his wife Christina, to whom he was lovingly devoted. Loving uncle of Maureen PARRISH, Alexander LOGAN, Robert LOGAN, Kathleen McCOO, Gwen HOOKS, James BROWN (deceased) and Robert BROWN (deceased.) He will be dearly missed by his many Friends and relatives both here and abroad. Friends will be received at the "Eglinton Chapel" of McDougall and Brown Funeral Homes, 1812 Eglinton Avenue West (just east of Dufferin) on Friday, January 6th, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2006 at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Prospect Cemetery.

TOBEY, Marie Rita Lorraine (formerly BROPHY)
Beloved wife of Thomas TOBEY, died in Burlington, May 18, 2006. Born June 5, 1924 in Toronto, Rita was the youngest and last surviving sibling of the ten children of Charles-Honoré and Annie BROCHU. Predeceased by her first husband Joseph BROPHY in 1964 and by their youngest son Peter BROPHY in 1996. Survived and mourned by her husband Thomas TOBEY and by her children Michael and Joy BROPHY of North Bay, George and Lorraine BROPHY of St. Augustine, Ontario, Louise BROPHY and Christopher MOORE of Toronto, Paul BROPHY and Nancy CUNNINGHAM of Burlington, by Ron TOBEY of Barrie, Pam and Ron POULIN of Welland, Nancy McCOOL of Oshawa, Karen and Bob SKINNER of Wasaga Beach, and by her twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Rita was proud of her family and her French Canadian heritage. Her caring ways, quick wit, and generosity touched the lives of many. She was greatly loved and will be warmly remembered by relatives and Friends in Burlington, Hamilton, Toronto, Goderich, Victoria Harbour and Dungannon, Ontario, Bradenton, Florida, and Echuca, Australia. Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall) Burlington (905-632-3333) on Sunday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint_John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Brant Street (at Blairholm) on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 10 a.m. Private Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. Peacefully, at Princess Margaret Hospital, on Sunday, June 18th, 2006 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Maureen (deceased) and cherished father of Erin (Paul HABER,) Kerry (Robert WAI,) Tammy (John DAWSON,) Alanna (Tim O'HANLON,) D'Arcy (Kathleen PEETS) and Barry. Grandfather of Brenna, Andrea, Gregory and Matthew HABER and Bram and Liam DAWSON. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mary and Norman SATTERFIELD, Andrew (deceased) and Kathy RITTICH, and Alice and Margaret McCOOL. Dear companion of Patricia PARR. Eugene was a longtime member of the Toronto Symphony and a teacher at the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto since its inception. The family would like to extend its thanks to his many Friends and colleagues for their thoughts and kindness during his illness; he valued you all very much. The family would also like to express its deep gratitude to Doctors John BRYSON, Steven GALLINGER, Sarah HALES, Monika KRZYZANOWSKA and Camilla ZIMMERMANN, nurse Catherine PURCELL, and the wonderful nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Princess Margaret for the spectacular care and support they provided. Special thanks to Helen CALIBUGAN for her care during the last year. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 10: 30 a.m.at St. Basil's Church, University of Toronto, 50 Saint_Joseph's Street, Toronto with reception to follow at the Boulevard Club, 1491 Lakeshore Blvd. W., Toronto.
