Of Wiarton passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8th, 2006 in her 90th year. Beloved mother of Francis (Lorna) EDMONSTONE of Orangeville, Sharon (Keith) PEER of Owen Sound, Donna (Reg) HEPBURN of Wiarton and Bill (Debbie) EDMONSTONE of Shallow Lake. Cherished grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 12. She will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Margaret ROUSE of East Linton. Laura was predeceased by her husband Erven, her parents Margaret (KING) and Melville YORK, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Laura worked at the Wiarton Hospital for many years and was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 208 Ladies Auxilliary and the Oxenden Women's Institute. The family will receive Friends at the George Funeral Home, Wiarton on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 from 2: 00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9: 00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Laura's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. with Rev. Peacefully at Saint Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, October 1, 2006. Carmen Ray SHACKELTON of Saint Thomas in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Shirley (SMITH) SHACKELTON. Dear father of Joan LIDSTER of London, Darlene and husband Eric McKENZIE of Victoria, British Columbia, Sandra VANDUINKERKEN and husband John of Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Janet and husband John YORK of Cambridge, Ivan SHACKELTON and wife Mable of Simcoe, Larry SHACKELTON and wife Mary Louise of Windsor, David SHACKELTON and wife Janet of Harrow, Paul SHACKELTON and wife Anne Marie of Elliot Lake and Gregory SHACKELTON and wife Brenda of Windsor. Brother of Kenneth SHACKELTON and wife Leone of Springfield, Leslie SHACKELTON of R.R.#1, Springfield and the late Vera PARSONS. There are 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter Doreen HAMPSON and an infant son Robert "Bobby" SHACKELTON. Born in South Dorchester Twp on July 6, 1915 son of the late John and Bertha (McINTYRE) SHACKELTON. Carmen was a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator. In 1971 he moved from the Aylmer area to Iron Bridge and returned to this area in 1991. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment, Springfield Cemetery. Born on September 3rd, 1962, died suddenly on October 13th, 2006. Katherine was the much loved and loving daughter of Joan and the late Ted YORK. Step-daughter of Peter WEBB. Dear sister of Marion, David and Edward, step-sister of Stewart, Kristina, Elizabeth, and Sean, niece of Sally, Moira and Alistair, aunt of Declan, Nora, Eleanor, Wallis and Freddy. Katherine was a kind, sensitive and proud soul and she will be missed terribly by her family and Friends. A funeral service will be held at the Church of St. Clement, Eglinton (Duplex Avenue at Briar Hill Avenue) on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle, on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Trillium Health Centre in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Orv YORK for 53 years. Loving mother of Barb MORGAN and her husband Mike MORGAN. Dear grandmother of Mark and his wife Leigh BRISLEY of Newmarket, and Brooke. Proud great-grandmother to Evan and Taylor. Dear sister of Ruby (California). Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. She was loved by all who knew her. Effie was a proud graduate of the Ottawa Civic Hospital and excelled at her profession in many different areas of medicine. Peacefully at Marion Villa on Wednesday May 3, 2006, in her 85th year, Elizabeth BRUSHETT, London, Ontario. Loving wife of Alex BRUSHETT. Predeceased by her mother Mae PETRIE, father Daniel PETRIE, sister Camilla KING (Sis) and brother Daniel PETRIE. Elizabeth is survived by her sister Effie (Evelyn) CLEMENTS and niece Lorna YORKE and husband Andrew. Also survived by her niece Renae VENTUROLI and children. Elizabeth has been a resident of London for 2½ years, after moving here from Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia. She will be fondly missed by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass will be said at Holy Cross Church on Saturday May 13th at 10: 30 a.m., officiated by Father LUCIO. A burial cremation will take place in July at Saint Anne's Cemetery, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.

BENDING, David Arthur
Peacefully at Bluewater Health Mitton Site on Tuesday, December 5th, 2006, David Arthur BENDING, age 67 of Sarnia passed away. David will be sadly missed by his dear wife of 33 years, Diane (JENNINGS) BENDING. Loving Father of Stephanie and David PEARSALL, Kelly and Ken BAUMAN/BOWMAN, Ward and Melanie YORKE, Robert and Gillian YORKE, and Mike BENDING. Gone but not forgotten by his grandchildren Josh, Jake, Luke, and Hannah PEARSALL; Megan, Kenny and Maxwell BAUMAN/BOWMAN; Mitchell, Connor and Piper YORKE and his sister-in-law Elizabeth BENDING. Many nieces and nephews survive. He was predeceased by brothers Tom and Jack and sister Barbara. Along his many journeys through life David was president of the Goderich Lion's Club, a baseball and hockey coach in Guelph. He also served as an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was a longtime member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. A celebration of Dave's life will take place in the Chapel of the D.J. Robb Funeral Home (102 N. Victoria Street, Sarnia) on Friday, December 8th at 11: 00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. WESSON, Maureen Marie
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen WESSON at North Vancouver, British Columbia, on Thursday, December 21, 2006, at the age of 66. Maureen died of complications arising from the progression of her pulmonary fibrosis. Maureen is survived by Ernie, her loving husband of 48 years, her sister Adele YORKE and her brother John ARDIS. She will be remembered and deeply missed by her daughters Karen HANLON (James,) Lori MURPHY (Bill) and Lynn BRADSHAW, her son Chris WESSON (Leachelle,) and family member Ron LEA, as well as her grandchildren Greg and Tony MURPHY, Kristina and Heather BRADSHAW, Chelanna and Cherie WESSON, and Katie, Jamie, John and Joseph HANLON. Maureen was a warm and friendly lady who gave much happiness to everyone she came in contact with. She was completely devoted to her family, and was a loyal and supporting partner throughout her husband's military career and subsequent involvement with several service associations. She also enjoyed a long and productive career as a Legal Secretary. Best friend, loving wife, mother and grandmother, with a true giving and nurturing spirit, Maureen will be remembered and cherished by everyone who knew her. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2: 00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28th at St. Stephen's parish (24th and Mountain Hwy, North Vancouver). A Prayer service will also be held in the church at 7: 00 p.m. on the evening before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Canadian Lung Association.

Passed away suddenly at Cedarvale Lodge, Keswick on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the age of 70 years. Bill LAIRD of Sutton, formerly of Keswick, beloved husband of Joan (McDONOUGH) and the late Judy (née ROLLO, 1993.) Dear father of Andy LAIRD and his wife Lori of Keswick and Karen LAIRD of Toronto. Grandfather of Nicole and Amanda. Step-father of Christopher McDONOUGH (Grace) and Kelly YORKE (Paul) and their children. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he came to Canada at the age of 19 years. He worked in the insurance industry for 51 years, both in Toronto and later as owner of Laird and Laird Insurance Brokerage in Keswick. Bill gave many years of public and charitable service as York Region Public School Trustee, Ward Councillor for the Town of Georgina, active as a Big Brother, started the first minor soccer league in Georgina, and served on the executive of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 356, Sutton. Memorial Visitation in the Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Veterans' Service in the funeral home Sunday at 7: 00 p.m. Memorial Service in the chapel Monday at 11: 00 a.m. Donations to the Georgina Chapter of the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
