MEISAMI-
FARD,
Doctor
Borna
Ah, love! Could thou and I with Fate conspire
To grasp this sorry Scheme of Things entire,
Would not we shatter it to bits - and then
Re-mould it nearer to the Heart's Desire?
Father, husband, son, brother, and a true Friend, Doctor Borna
MEISAMI-
FARD
joined Eternity in our hearts on 1 July 2007. Born forty years
ago on 28 May 1967 in Tehran, Iran, Borna and his family came
to Canada in 1984. He studied at the University of Toronto and
graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1992. He then pursued his
dream of specializing in orthopedic surgery and established what
was to become a thriving practice in Toronto.
In an age of Identities, he eschewed labels and wove his own
cultural tapestry out of a deep love for his land of birth and
an equally deep commitment to his adopted home; never losing
touch with the one, never losing sight of other, he made both
Iran and Canada his home and native land. But there was more,
much more, to him than all that.
Despite the impositions of a demanding profession, Borna's guiding
axiom was that "life demands to be lived". An avid traveler,
a passionate humanitarian, a connoisseur of fine food, a sailor
and skier and all around sports fan, a keen observer of national
and international issues, a voracious reader of history; but
above all, a friend, a companion of stormy nights and of sun-drenched
moments, an endlessly patient support, a pillar of the community:
Borna was a compleat human. And over the past three years, he
became complete. He married out of love a woman out of legend
the arrival of their daughter rounded their happiness eighteen
months ago.
Shattered and disconsolate by his loss are Doctor Marjan
TABATABAI,
his wife; Ava, his daughter; Doctor Tina
MEISAMI-
FARD, his sister
Dr. Iraj and Mrs. Badri
MEISAMI-
FARD, his parents; his family
and relatives spread across this Mortal Orb; and the many Friends
gathered and nurtured with unfailing attention and support over
the years. Not one soul touched even briefly by his kindness
shall ever forget that Moment; thus he lives on as he leaves
us.
I have lived and have not lived in vain&hellip
But there is that within me which shall tire
Torture and Time, and breathe when I expire&hellip
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, 8 July 2007, Regency
Ballroom, Four Seasons Hotel, 21 Avenue Road, Toronto, from 2 to
5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Friends and mourners may wish to make
a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Those
who wish to participate in the funeral procession may meet at
9: 45 at Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mount Pleasant
Rd., Toronto. The procession begins at 10: 00 a.m.

True to his wish, Bruce died peacefully at Ian Anderson House

great husband, dad, papa and friend. Bruce will be missed by
all who knew him, especially Joan

lifetime love for 55 years; a devoted and loving father to Ned
(Rachelle), Martha, Paul (Sam), Ian (Audrey) and Leanne (Ron)
proudest Papa to Heather, Christianne, Erin, Stephanie and Juliana
and his beloved Annie. He will be greatly missed by his identical
twin brother Doug (Jane) with whom he shared a spiritual and
unique bond, and his extended family: Jean and the late Stewart
FARLEY
(London,)
Richard and Liz
FARLEY (Wilmot Creek) and David
FARLEY
(Montreal;) his many wonderful nieces and nephews; his
chosen family of many wonderful Friends; and the many colleagues
and clients that he touched over the years. Bruce adored his
four-legged companions Annie, Mozart, Taxi, Jake, Burley, Tuffy,
Hobbs, Patches, Roxy, Marley and Phish. An avid golfer, gardener,
dog walker, hiker, traveler and patient shopper, he was one of
a kind. Bruce was a proud member of the provincial champion East
York Goliaths basketball and football teams and went on to play
football at U of T. Bruce recalled actually winning a game or
two when he played at U of T. Professionally, he held senior
management roles in three multi-national organizations before
becoming a pioneer in Career Consulting and Outplacement Services
in Canada as a partner with KPMG Career Consulting. A long
time resident of Oakville he volunteered his time to organizations
such as Rotary, Kiwanis, and Toronto Board of Trade to name a
few. He and Annie volunteered their time for weekly visits to
the Oakville Hospital. His love for golf found him actively involved
as a Board member of the Oakville Golf Club. As his children
grew up, Bruce spent much time at the Oakville Club where he
held various Board positions. His caring and interest in others
was evident when he was a member of the Board of Governors for
the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. His family is forever
grateful to his medical team of dedicated and compassionate care
givers. Words could never express our appreciation to the Ian
Anderson House family for their compassion and total first-class
care of Bruce and the family during the last few weeks of his
illness. We send a big hug and many thank yous to all staff and
volunteers at Ian Anderson House. Bruce had an unrelenting optimistic
attitude, engaging smile, and sparkle in his eye that will always
be remembered with lots of love and never forgotten. In lieu
of flowers please make a donation to Ian Anderson House www.ianandersonhouse.com.
A Service of Remembrance to celebrate the life of Bruce, will

Generous volunteer skimped on sleep
By Claire NEARY,
Sun
Media,
Sun.,
December 23, 2007
It took Bill
FARQUHAR a while to figure out how his mother Beatrice
managed to pack countless hours of volunteering into her days
and still maintain an impeccably organized household.
"She got about four hours' sleep every night," the Saint Thomas
man said.
"Our neighbours always noticed that the lights in our house were
never off and the driveway was always full of cars belonging
to our Friends and family."
Beatrice Viola
FARQUHAR, 89, died December 6 of complications
from colon cancer at her home at Elgin Manor in Saint Thomas.
Born in Belmont,
FARQUHAR was a farm girl and lifelong volunteer
who loved horses, children, music, family and giving back to
her community.
She played the steel guitar and loved spending time with her
four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
"My mother never had a cross word for anyone," Bill
FARQUHAR
recalled. "Everyone liked her, and no matter how busy she was,
she always had time for family."
Beatrice started training to be a nurse during the Second World
War, but the war ended before she was set to leave.
She kept up her first aid skills and later worked her way up
through the ranks of Saint_John Ambulance, where she taught police
officers.
"She was always tying us up in slings and splints to practise,"
her son said.
"And her life-sized cardio-pulmonary resuscitation doll, named
'Resusci-Annie,' led to a pretty funny incident when she was
stopped by a police officer who noticed the realistic-looking
doll in the trunk."
Bea was active in a host of community groups, including Knox
Presbyterian Church, Belmont Monta Rebekah Lodge, the Liberal
Association and Mackenzie King Club, the Alzheimer Society, the
Women's Missionary Society, the Willing Workers Society and Neighbourhood
Watch.
She was the first woman inspector at the Somerville box factory
in London.
"She was always impeccably dressed, with her hair done -- even
when she was sick -- and she always did everyone's hair in the
neighbourhood for free," daughter Viola
McLEAN of Port Stanley
said.
Bill and Viola said they'll always remember how their mother
was non-judgmental and accepting of everyone.
"When we were kids we were allowed to bring anybody home," Viola
said. "She was such a good listener and she loved spending time
with her Tim Hortons gang of ladies in Saint Thomas."
"She was very organized and very happy. The only thing she didn't
like was missing out on time with family."
FARQUHAR was predeceased by her husband Charles John
FARQUHAR.

Gym shooting victim was 'targeted,' police say
By Geoff NIXON,
Page
A13
The execution-style slaying of a man outside a Richmond Hill
fitness club yesterday is being investigated for possible links
to organized crime, police say.
Jason PELLICORE, 34, was gunned down outside Complete Fitness,
east of Yonge Street and north of Major Mackenzie Drive, shortly
after 9 a.m.
A police source told The Globe and Mail yesterday that Mr.
PELLICORE
may have links to outlaw motorcycle gangs including the Bandidos
- a small, U.S.-based, outlaw motorcycle club whose profile has
shrunk in Canada following the sensational killing of eight members
and associates last year.
Police say Mr.
PELLICORE was stepping out of his vehicle to enter
the gym when he was shot several times. He was taken by ambulance
to York Central Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police say a man on a small motorcycle or motor scooter, who
was wearing a shielded helmet, was seen in the parking lot prior
to the shooting and is considered a person of interest.
John RUMNEY, 46, saw a man on a motorcycle drive up to the gym
parking lot from the south side of the building around 9 a.m.
While he didn't hear the actual shots, Mr.
RUMNEY said the incident
"really freaked" him. "In broad daylight, in a parking lot,"
he said. "As bad as it gets."
Detective
Sergeant
John
SHELDON of York Regional Police said
that elements of the shooting - the timing, the location and
the number of people involved - lead police to believe that Mr.
PELLICORE
was known to his killer.
"This was not a random shooting, he was targeted," he said.
Tony FARRAH, 55, was inside the fitness club when a woman came
running into the building yesterday.
"The woman was distraught," Mr.
FARRAH said. "A person from the
front desk ran out [to the parking lot] with her."
When Mr. FARRAH went out to see what had happened, he immediately
recognized Mr.
PELLICORE, whom he knew as a regular fixture at
the gym.
Relatives who answered the phone at Mr.
PELLICORE's
King
City
home yesterday said they had no comment.
Management at the fitness club did not return calls to reporters,
but left an answering message for their clients that the facility
will remain closed until tomorrow morning.
