Aggie's life was the epitome
of the three Es: educate, enlighten and entertain. Her life-long
career as an educator began at the young age of eighteen in a
one-room schoolhouse in Wetaskiwin and led to English Department
head at NcNally S.H. Although she retired from teaching after
40 years, her love of education continued, finding her tutoring
many students and relatives, teaching inmates of Fort Saskatchewan
Jail and speaking at many conventions and workshops. She worked
for equal pension rights for women teachers and was a founding
member of the Edmonton Chapter of the Canadian College of Teachers.
Aggie had a passion for the arts and loved to stir others to
explore and enjoy the arts. Along with playing the piano and
organ, writing plays and books, she was the organizer and director
of the Edmonton Youth Chorus and the Canadettes, a group that
also performed for CFRN Radio and television. She was a great
supporter of many music students, helping them to achieve their
dreams by buying musical instruments and underwriting concerts.
She coordinated musical comedies including a creative production
of 'Brigadoon' and co-edited a drama text, 'Nobody in the Cast'.
Aggie loved to bring people together. She would often open her
home; inviting people of all walks of life to meet and mingle
and party. She will be fondly remembered by her many Friends,
family, and former students. A Memorial Service will be held
at Robertson-Wesley United Church on Friday, July 06, 2007 at
