Douglas, Ph.D.
In his 84th year, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Nancy
Lynn, much loved father of Chris and Lynda and grandfather of
Dan and Julie. In his 33 year career, he pioneered innovative
paper-making techniques and introduced the scanning electron
microscope to Canada. He held a variety of positions including
Director of Research and Vice President of Research, Pulp and
Paper Research Institute of Canada, and professor at McGill University.
The winner of many awards, he was a Fellow of the Royal Society
of Canada and a member of the Pulp and Paper Hall of Fame. He
was a loving husband and father, a family man and a true gentleman
in the best sense. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family
and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds
Street, Oakville (905-844-3221) for a Memorial Service on Saturday,
January 6, 2007, at 11 a.m., with reception to follow. In lieu
of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial
Hospital Foundation.
