Eleanor (née
McROBERTS)
In the early morning of September 2, 2007, Eleanor died peacefully
at Parkwood Hospital, in London, Ontario, having lived a full
and rich life of 94 years.
Eleanor enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the London
Board of Education, and was a passionate and tireless advocate
for specialized classes and enhanced learning opportunities for
the gifted. She went on to become a recognized expert in the
field, and was designated a Master Teacher by the London Board
of Education.
She retired from teaching in 1971, when she met and married Ted
SANDERSON and moved to Toronto. There she was an active member
of Metropolitan United Church, involved in the church's annual
festival of the arts, dayspring. After returning to London, Ontario,
Eleanor brought her love of learning to the Society for Learning
in Retirement.
Eleanor was born in Kintore, Ontario, in 1913 to Lorne Chester
McROBERTS and Lillian
GUNDY and was predeceased by her only sister

MacLEOD (2003,) and her brother-in-law Irving
MacLEOD
(1997) of Oshawa and is survived by her nephews Donald

of Oshawa and David

Eleanor was also predeceased by her husband, C.F. (Ted)
SANDERSON
(1993) and is survived by his children Mary Sanderson

and Jane Sanderson
LESPERANCE and Jane's children, Norah and
Joseph (Victoria) all of Toronto. Eleanor will be missed by her
many, many loved and faithful Friends, many of whom are former
students. Special thanks to her loyal caregiver and friend, Jean
WALCH, who was at her bedside when she died.
A memorial service celebrating Eleanor's life will be held on
Saturday, September 8 at 11: 00 a.m. at The Grosvenor Club, 1 Grosvenor
Street, London.
In lieu of flowers, Friends are invited to contribute to a trust
fund that has been established in Eleanor's name to continue
her interest and commitment to children's learning. Donations
may be sent to The Thames Valley Education Foundation, 1250 Dundas
