College, University of Toronto, in French and classics. After
graduation, she taught secondary school in Paris, Ontario, until
her marriage in 1941. She worked for the Bank of Montreal in
Toronto after her marriage and through the war years. Subsequently,
she and her husband Peter, an accountant with the Bank of Montreal,
enjoyed his various postings with the Bank throughout southwestern
Ontario. During her life, Dorothy pursued her interests in painting
(founding member of the Lambeth Art Society), travel, gardening,
music and watching golf. She will be remembered for her great
love of family and her passion for reading and crossword puzzles.
On behalf of Dorothy, the family would like to thank the staff
at the Ashwood Retirement Residence, Lambeth and the Longworth
Nursing Home, London, for their wonderful care and support. Cremation
has taken place. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held
at Lambeth United Church, 4268 Colonel Talbot Road, London on
Friday July 18, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to

At 85 years of age, on December 28, 2007, at Sudbury Regional
Hospital, of cancer. Dan will be lovingly remembered and sadly
missed by his surviving family: his daughter Lynn, his sisters
Alice and Patricia, his brother Larry, his many nieces and nephews,
their children, and their children's children. Dan was pre-deceased
by his son, Michael, and his brothers, Philip and Patrick. Dan
will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wonderful
neighbours and Friends in his adopted city of Sudbury, including
many children for whom he was a beloved uncle and/or grandfather.
This warm community was the centre of his life over the last
40 years. After retiring from teaching at Cambrian College, Dan
maintained connections with a group of other retired faculty.
A mathematician, photographer and inventor, Dan loved music,
philosophy, art, and the challenges of building his own house.
He had an enormous curiosity, love of ideas, and enthusiasm for
exploring just about everything. Giving back to his community
was important to Dan. He was involved for many years in Big Brothers
of Sudbury, making Friendships there that lasted a lifetime.
A memorial service to honour Dan will be held in Sudbury at a
later date. Donations in Dan's memory can be made to Big Brothers
of Sudbury, or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation - Sudbury
Regional Hospital.

other groups. Visitors will be received at the Needham-Jay Funeral
Home, Petrolia on Monday, May 5, 2008 from 12 noon until 2: 00 p.m.,
when a service to celebrate Joe's life will be held. As expressions

Ken McLAREN, one of this area's well-known and respected residents,
passed away on Thursday, April 17 as the result of a heart attack.
Ken was in his 84th year. He was a retired farmer, he was a loving
uncle, a treasured neighbour and friend.
Kenneth, son of George and Alice
McLAREN was born June 16, 1924 and
spent most of his life working the family farm in Melancthon
Township. He and his brother Delmar purchased the farm from their
father George upon his retirement in 1972 Upon Ken's retirement
in 1986 he moved into Dundalk on Victoria Street, and following
his mother's passing moved to the Highview apartment in Dundalk
in 1998.
Ken's daily routine would not be complete without going to the
Junction Restaurant in the morning for coffee, playing cards
at the card room and visiting Friends, relatives and neighbours.
He enjoyed going to auction sales with cousin Carol and Ernie
HAWTON. He was an avid euchre player and loved to go to the Bingo.
Ken always supported and looked forward to attending community
events such as the Firemen's Frolic, Dundalk Fair Honeywood Barbecue
suppers, Dundalk Town Hall Theatre, Pepper Tournaments and Turkey
Rolls at the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Dundalk
Young at Heart Club. He enjoyed sports especially baseball and
hockey. He would always attend local hockey games of cousins
and great nephews.

an honour and a blessing.

in 1944 and soon moved to Toronto, where they resided on Tyrrell
Avenue and then Inglewood Drive. Proud of her Icelandic heritage,
she and Harold were staunch supporters of the Icelandic Canadian
Club of Toronto. They were avid curlers at the Granite Club and
enjoyed family summers at Balsam Lake, and skiing at Limberlost
and Summit. For many years she volunteered as a teacher's assistant
at inner city schools, and as a teacher of English as a Second
Language. Esther was a long time member of Timothy Eaton Memorial
Church and an enthusiastic participant in its Community Service
Club.
A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at the Humphrey
Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south
of Eglinton Avenue East) on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11 o'clock.

Patrick at Sunnybrook Health Science Center on June 6, 2008.
at age 60. He will be sadly missed by all his family in Canada
and the United Kingdom. He is survived by his wife Rosemary,

He will be especially remembered by his nephews and nieces Lindsay,
Bobby, Simon, Eric, Peter and Jen. Patrick should be remembered
for his sharp intellect, wit and wonderful story telling. The
