Loving mother of Janice BLACKWELL (Eugene) and step-mother of Robert BUCHAN, Linda BUCHAN, Karen BOYES and Brian BUCHAN. Predeceased by daughter Sandra PARKER. Cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Evelyn TEDBALL of Strathroy. Of Saint Thomas, passed away on Monday, March 24th, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 59th year. Dearly loved partner of Jerry COLEMAN and loved daughter of Janet (McNAUGHTON) BUCHAN of Elgin Manor and the late Donald BUCHAN. Dear step-mother of Damian and his wife Daniele COLEMAN of Saint Thomas, Julie and her husband Craig KENNEY of Toronto and Melissa and her husband Colin DUFFY of London. Dear sister of Jane BUCHAN of Saint Thomas and Kenneth BUCHAN of Woodstock. Sadly missed by four grandchildren. Catherine was born in London April 24th, 1949. She worked over 25 years for the C.I.B.C. and has worked for the Credit Unit at the Saint Thomas Psychiatric Hospital the past four years. SCHWARTZE- BUENEMANN, Marianne " Anne"
Born April 3rd, 1920, Anne passed away peacefully with her son at her side on January 27th, 2008 in Collingwood. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Andy SCHWARTZE and his wife Doreen. She will be greatly missed by daughter Tina and son-in-law Bob BUCHAN. The family would like to thank the staff of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and Blue Mountain Home Care for the excellent care they provided. To her grandchildren, Jennifer and Fraser BUCHAN, Michael, Stephen and Richard SCHWARTZE, Anne was known as Ama - a wonderful and caring grandmother they could always count on for a trail of smarties leading to a birthday gift and a freezer full of homemade popsicles. Recently, she had been taking great pleasure in getting to know Andy's stepchildren, Gareth and Jayne. Anne, her husband Herbert, and two young children, immigrated to Canada 1952. The family was raised in Oakville. After a painful divorce and a short attempt at life in Toronto, Anne moved to her home on Lake of Bays, where she lived happily for over 30 years. Through her talent and passion for art, her love of nature, and with the palette of Muskoka as her inspiration, Anne produced many beautiful works, which will live on as her legacy. She will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, Anne's family kindly request that donations be made in her remembrance to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind Lake Joseph Centre, c/o Canadian National Institute for the Blind National Office, 1929 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M4G 3E8. Eleanor is survived by her son Stephen (Glenda) and her daughter Janet BUCHAN. Much loved grandmother of Heather BUCHAN. TAILOR/TAYLOR, Thelma Norene (née COOK)
Thelma passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford at the age of 84, on Saturday May 3, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Euphrasia Township on April 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harman and Clara (née HINDMAN) COOK. Thelma married Arthur Herbert TAILOR/TAYLOR on October 26, 1946. The couple enjoyed working together in the family orchards in Clarksburg for many years. Bird watching, quilting, gardening and baking apple pies were some of Thelma's many interests. Thelma will be remembered for her ever present smile and quiet manner. She was committed not only to her family but also to her church and community. She will be forever remembered as a loving mother by her daughter Bonnie and her husband Brian McCOLGAN of Meaford, son Ted TAILOR/TAYLOR and his wife Sonia of Chatham, and daughter Joyce GAUCI of Meaford. Thelma was predeceased by her beloved husband Art in February 1994 and by her daughter Linda THOMS of Craigleith in August 2004. Thelma was the cherished mother-in-law of Brenda TAILOR/TAYLOR of Clarksburg and Stewart THOMS of Craigleith. Thelma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Taylor and Kelly; Michelle (Kevin), Michael (Anna), Meghan (Mike), Joey and Jessie; Erin (Blue); Dustin and Josh and by her great-granddaughters; Caitlin, Keira and Kendra. She was predeceased by her brother, Beverley COOK of Rocklyn, in September 2000 and is warmly remembered by her sister-in-law Eileen COOK of Owen Sound. Thelma will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Edna (late Fred) TAILOR/TAYLOR of Victoria British Columbia and formerly of Clarksburg, Edna (late Willard) JULIAN of Meaford, Elsie (late Don) WATTS of Clarksburg, and Audrey (late Howard) EAGLES, of Meaford. Her several nieces and nephews and their families will also recall their Aunt Thelma with great affection. Thelma's funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford and funeral services, officiated by Reverend Dr. Robert BUCHANAN, were conducted at Saint Paul's Presbyterian Church in Thornbury on Tuesday May 6, 2008. Son-in-law Brian McCOLGAN and son Ted TAILOR/TAYLOR offered remembrances of Thelma in tribute to her life during the service. LLOYD, Doctor Clifford Cooper
Founding President Of George Brown College (Toronto)
Died peacefully in his sleep, January 24th, 2008, at the age of 83. Clifford's journey through life took him from his birthplace on the Gower Coast in Wales, through the battlefields of World War 2 as an officer in the British Army, and then post-war service in Egypt and India before moving to Canada with his wife Joan in 1947. He will be dearly missed by his beloved Joan Margaret, the wind in his sails. Clifford worked as a plumber in Toronto before taking a teaching position in 1952, at the Provincial Institute of Trades where he became Principal ten years later. He was the founding President of George Brown College from 1967 to 1978. Despite his passion for developing a strong viable technical college, Clifford was always very involved in his community serving as President of the West Toronto Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the Miles for Millions walk (77-78) and as Rector's Warden, choir member and lay preacher at St. Theordore's Anglican Church in North York. Doctor LLOYD earned his M.Ed. and PhD at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (U of T). Even a major stroke in 1990 did not deter him; he completed his Masters of Theological Studies at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Brock University in 2001 at the age of 76. As their father and grandfather provided love, inspiration and support all of their lives, he will be sorely missed by his children, Sian MORRIS (Peter,) Jim LLOYD (Debra,) Chris Lloyd GOTTINGER (Cliff), John LLOYD (Donna), Diane AGNELLI (Larry) and his grandchildren Stephen HARRINGTON (Hilary,) Bryan HARRINGTON (Kathryn), Michael LLOYD (Kavita), Peter LLOYD, Jamie Lloyd GOTTINGER (Jessica), Jessie BUCHANAN (Nathan), Chris LLOYD (Aleita,) Matthew LLOYD, and Tom, Mark and Tony AGNELLI. Clifford had four great-grandchildren: Rhys, Cooper, Declan and Audrey.

Beloved husband of 48 years of Diane Teasdale SMAIL of Oakville, Ontario. Predeceased by brothers James and Samuel SMAIL and sister Audrey BUCHANAN. (Vancouver) David was born in Bristol, England. His earliest school years took place in Scotland, England and Wales, with one year in Lebanon and part of a year with a tutor in Syria. The majority of his primary education was at Hurst Grange Boys Boarding School, Sterling, Scotland. During these formative years, he spent holidays, in places such as Nigeria, visiting with his parents who were stationed internationally, working on various engineering projects. When David was 12, he immigrated with his parents, to Canada whereupon he attended Upper Canada College and later The University of British Columbia, obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law in 1966. David articled at the prestigious law firm of Clark Wilson LLP in Vancouver, where he became a partner, enjoying a successful career in the litigation department, practicing employment law, gaming law, family law, and intellectual property. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1983. As well, David took pride in providing leadership in training and mentoring in his field. His practice lasted for 42 years, until days before he passed. As a volunteer, David served on the Board of Trustees of Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for 13 years, acting as Chairman for one year. He was a former President of The Vancouver Bar Association; a former director of the Legal Services Society of British Columbia; former Chair, Law Day of British Columbia; former member, National Judiciary Committee, Canadian Bar Association and a member of the International Commission of Jurists. From his university days, he remained a member of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity and the Annual Gardy Frost Steelhead Fishing Group. He was also a member of the University Club and subsequently, The Vancouver Club. If law was his life-long profession, then fishing was his passion. David's pursuit of trout, salmon, dorado, marlin, sailfish, and bonefish took him throughout Canada, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, and Hawaii. Two special hobbies David enjoyed were reading and philately, which brought him quiet times and fulfilled his vast interest in history. David was part of a very close and loving family, he was predeceased by his father, Rae BUCHANAN; and is survived by his mother, Olive Buchanan SMITH; his wife, Patty RANDALL; his daughter, Laura KEARNES, her husband Russell; his son, Adam; his daughter, Kate and his two grandchildren, Quinlan and Veronica KEARNES. David's remarkable courage and strength and his incredibly positive attitude after his diagnosis with esophageal cancer, gave both him and his family an extra year and a half of quality life, full of family gatherings, further travel and laughter. Hugh Alexander COPELAND, age 87, of Mississauga, passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Born December 25, 1920, in Proton Station, Ontario to the late Hugh and Margaret Elizabeth (STEWARD/STEWART/STUART) COPELAND. A retired dairy farmer, Alex was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. Alex loved life, travel, wintering in the south, playing cards, hockey (playing and watching) and spending time with Friends and family. Alex was active in the community, having served as an elder for the former Meadowvale United Church and as a trustee for the Toronto Township School Board. Alex. served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 2. Preceeded in death by his parents, sisters Alma HARDY and Addie KNOX; brother, Robert COPELAND; nephews Bruce COPELAND and Jack KNOX. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Isabel; son, Larry (Lisa) COPELAND of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Laura Lee (Jamie), Nicole and Kelly; great-grand_son, Connor Copeland BUCKER; niece, Eleanor HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON of Markdale, nephew Keith COPELAND of Toronto. Loving widow to her late husband Sidney BERSUDSKY, good friend of her late first husband E.H. BUCKERFIELD, dear and caring mother to her son James BUCKERFIELD and his wife Geertje MOELIJKER of Crans, Switzerland, a caring "second mother" to Neil, Helen and Lynn BUCKERFIELD. A friend to many, a mentor to some fortunate few, an example to all, she was liked and respected.
She is missed already, and will be missed for a long time to come.

Bill has loyally served the Canadian Forces for 35 years, joining as an apprentice soldier in 1954. During his career he completed 4 tours in Germany and tour in Cyprus. He retired in 1987 as the Regimental Sergeant Major Canadian Forces School of Administration and Logistics, but continued to serve the Canadian Forces as a civilian driver with Canadian Forces Borden Base Transport for a further 17 years.
