VINCE, William Dennis
(November 23rd 1963-June 21st, 2008)
After a courageous battle with sarcoma cancer, Bill passed away in his West Vancouver home at the age of 44. An accomplished filmmaker, he is most widely known for his role as President and Founder of Infinity Features Entertainment and as the Producer of 'Capote' for his five Academy Award Nominations and one Academy Award win. Those closest to Bill, however, are more likely to remember him for his charm, determination, and willingness to make a difference in the lives of others. As a child he was diagnosed with Dyslexia, and has since dedicated much of his time and energy to helping others who are afflicted with this condition. He was an active mentor in the community as a hockey coach, sharing the skills he acquired during his first career as a professional hockey player. Bill also helped to implement and fund several programs on the Vancouver Downtown East-side to assist young people in their struggle with drug addiction. Even as his illness progressed Bill's determination could not be destroyed. While in treatment he completed three feature films; 'Push', 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus', and 'Stone of Destiny.' More than anything, Bill wanted to win the battle with cancer for his children. Until the very end he refused to give up and never complained. Bill was a loving father to Miles, Michaela, and Nathanial, and husband to Cynthia MILES. Predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Anne Harland VINCE, Bill also leaves behind his father, Dennis VINCE, his brother, Robert VINCE, and sisters; Pauline GIBSON, Lyn VINCE, and Janet RICHARD, as well as his many nieces and nephews and longtime close Friends and business associates. The family would like to thank Doctor Richard Gray and Doctor Chris Beauchamp at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale and Doctor Paul Klimo, Doctor Paul Sugar, and Nurse Pat Macdonald at the Lions Gate Hospital. The beloved bride of 66 years of Charles (Charlie) Thomas BRADY passed away peacefully at Toronto in her 93rd year on January 21st, 2008. Gerry was born in 1915 in Dixie, Ontario. Predeceased by her loving son Patrick (Lynn). She will be forever missed by her children Brenda COSTELLO (Boone), Peter (Beth), Mary Ann, Margaret, Brigid (Stephen) and Timothy. Loving grandmother of Patrick BRADY and Martha BERNEY (Mark); Droughan, Darryl and Allison (Rob) COSTELLO; Ryan and Conor BRADY; and David and William HOUSE. Greatgrandmother of Jacob, Kaitlyn and Sarah BERNEY. Loving sister-in-law to Beverley O'BRIEN and Shelagh O'BRIEN. It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Tyson Lawrence William FOXCROFT born June 21, 1983. Tyson was taken by the fury of the Yukon River on May 17, 2008. Tyson's zest for life, exploration and travel took him north 5 years ago. Tyson was about to fulfill his dream of becoming a helicopter pilot. He will be missed by his partner in love, life and adventure Tyla HAYGARTH, and his beloved "Zooter" rescued from the animal shelter; parents Bill and Gail FOXCROFT, sister Heather WOODROW (Brad), brothers Ryan (Sara), Andrew (Mara), his sister Victoria at home and grandfather Bill QUINLAN. Tyson leaves behind nephews Morgan, Lake and Lucan. His presence will be missed by godparents Rick and Leslie MILHAUSEN of Kitchener, Ontario., many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless Friends. A resident of Chatham, Kay BRISLEY died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Windsor Metropolitan Hospital, at the age of 88. Born in Howard Township to the late Arthur and Ethel (DUDDY) ANDERSON. Beloved wife of the late Gordon 'Gord' BRISLEY (2006.) Loving mother of Bonnie and her husband Brad BROWN of Port Stanley, Bette and her husband Patrick CATTON of Amherstburg, and Janice and her husband Richard LESCHYSHYN of Corunna. Kay will be missed by her grandchildren Heather BROWN and Phil, Kevin BROWN and wife Kerrin, Jessica CATTON and Chad, Ryan CATTON and Karen, Josh LESCHYSHYN, and Warren LESCHYSHYN. Died peacefully at Toronto, surrounded by his family.
Born in Toronto July 30, 1918, son of the late Major John and Leona (MILLAR) INWOOD, Arthur was predeceased by his first wife Frances (née LAWLOR) and his brother Millar and sister Rebecca.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lorna, his sons William and his wife MaryAnne, Paul and his wife Sarah, his daughter Margaret and her husband Stephen, and his grandchildren Matthew, Kevin, Geoffrey and James.
Arthur was educated at De La Salle College "Oaklands" and served as an officer with the Canadian army in the Second World War. He was one of the survivors of the sinking of the troopship Santa Elena, torpedoed in the Mediterranean in 1943. Arthur had a lifelong career in the insurance industry, was past president of the Empire Club of Canada, a founding member of the Elizabethans and an avid sailor.

At home in Ottawa at age 66, on Friday May 9th, 2008. She leaves her spouse, Andre MILLAR, daughters Serena and Fiona and granddaughter Kayla in San Francisco, sisters Bridget and Angela, brother James, their spouses Brad and Debbie, as well as sisters-in-law Diana and Mychele. She also leaves numerous close Friends and other relatives in California, Florida, and elsewhere in the U.S.A. and Canada. Born and raised in Hudson and Montreal, Quebec, she attended McGill University and moved to San Francisco and Marin County with her first husband, Theodore BURGESS, where they raised Serena and Fiona, and where Prudence worked as a real estate agent. They were surrounded by Friends and family who shared Prue's and Theodore's passion for good food and wine, the arts, and travel to Europe to savour its cuisine and its history. She was especially fond of Stinson Beach, where she and Theodore liked to entertain. Subsequent to the death of Theodore in 1992, Prudence married Andre and lived in Ottawa, Ontario, until her death. This new phase of her life saw the making of additional Friends, and work for Statistics Canada where she interviewed a wide cross section of Canadian society. In the summer, there were frequent stays with Andre in Jones Falls, Ontario, at the Kenney family inn and, in the winter, on Casey Key in Florida, where her parents had had a winter home. Casey Key, its beaches and sunsets, and the Smetts family (Bonnie, Bob, Debbie) became another home for her. Diagnosed with cancer in 2000, Prudence was determined to beat it until 17 days prior to her death. Throughout this time she was kindly and assiduously attended by the doctors Dent (whose care added 4 years to her life), Wong (always there in "stretcher bay" for her), Robillard, Drodge, Laurie, Aldridge -- nurses -- Carmen (kindly present at all times of need), Carol (devoted to her comfort unto the last moments), Beppi, Debbie, Andrea, Fatima, Sue -- and many others at the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, and in her own home. With all of them, Prudence shared her optimism and her indomitable spirit to beat the odds. Her sparkling personality was larger than life. She was an amazing and wonderful woman, with immense sensitivity and great kindness. She was also wise, funny, willful and passionate, inspiring others to live life cheerfully, and with gusto. Her love touched all who knew her, be they family, Friends, professionals or those just met. Her warm embrace freely given was unforgettable, even as she lay dying. Andre's regret is not having been an even more supportive knight to this great lady. She was cremated in the Gatineau Hills near Ottawa, on May 12th, on a hillside not far from where they had both recently marked her 66th birthday.
