Peacefully at the Empress Kanata on Monday, April 14, 2008, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Minerva McCALPIN and father of Steven, Roy (Patricia,) Cathy (Joey LAVIGNE) and Dave (Erica), grandfather of Erin, Adam, Meg, Patrick, Dana, Myles, Iain, Ellen and Anne and great-grandfather of Jason and Blake. John served as Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force 1941-45 and was held as a Prisoner of War 1944-45. He graduated from Queen's University in Civil Engineering, class of 48½, and had a long career as a professional engineer. At his request there will be no funeral service. Peacefully, at C.E.E. Hospital - Bluewater Health, Petrolia, on Friday, February 15, 2008. Jean McALPINE, 92 years, of Petrolia. Miss McALPINE was a teacher throughout Lambton County, retiring from St. Clair High School in 1972. Miss McALPINE was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Rose McALPINE, and two sisters, Helen McALPINE (1997) and Janet McALPINE (1972.) She is survived by several cousins. The funeral service for Jean McALPINE will be held at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia, on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 1: 00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jo-Anne SYMINGTON will officiate. Private interment in Rickard Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

At Bobier Villa, Dutton on Sunday, February 17th, 2008. Catherine Grace McPHERSON (McCALLUM) of Dutton and formerly of West Lorne in her 88th year. Lovingly remembered by her husband Duncan. Dear father of Jim and his wife Deb of Strathroy and Dan and his wife Sharon of Glencoe. Grace will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Sarah, Amy (Eric), Karrie (Barry), Jessica (Marcus) and Danielle and her great-grandchildren Curtis, Michelle and Alyssa. Survived by her sister Sadie McALPINE of Rodney and her brother John McCALLUM (Jean) of Dutton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Dougald and Barbara McCALLUM, brothers Bud, Bruce, Mac and Dunc and sisters Georgina and Jean. Grace was a faithful member of Argyle Presbyterian Church, Crinan. She spent many years volunteering her time and efforts at the church and in her community. ROBERTS, Mary Elizabeth " Betty" (née McALPINE)
Passed away, with family at her side, at Saint_Joseph's Health Centre, March 7th, 2008. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, passionate amateur entertainer, artist, skilled Bridge and Scrabble player and bonne vivante. She often said that she was named after two Queens and became affectionately known to her family as the Monarch.▼ She▼ is the beloved wife of 61 years to Cy ROBERTS, (predeceased,) loving mother of Bruce and wife Therese▼ of Toronto, and Liz ROBERTS of Perth, Australia, dear sister of Marjorie RUSSELL of Vancouver. She approached life's challenges with a determined spirit. She often said 'I'll find a way or make one'. She made a successful transition to independent living after Cy's passing. After a stroke a year ago, she was so well loved by all her care givers that she was able to make the journey from Hospital to Long Term Care then to a Retirement Home! Faced with not being able to drive she purchased a 'mobility scooter'! She embraced 'scooter life' with gusto. The DVD: 'Betty Rides Again' celebrated her success. She always focused on what she had gained not on what she lost. Mom's positive spirit was a godsend for her family and an inspiration to everyone. A private celebration of Mom's life will be held for Friends and family at Chartwell Scarlett Heights, 4005 Eglinton Ave, Toronto on her birthday Wed, March 26th, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. Daughter Liz will celebrate Mom's Life in Perth Australia on the same date. As Liz says: 'she's given so much love to so many people… she'll be loved in the 'spirit world'. Cremation has taken place. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba April 21, 1927. It is with great sadness that we announce Ken's passing at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, British Columbia, on July 23, 2008 after a very brief illness. Beloved and loving husband of 33 years of Susan COOPER; loving father of Garth KEEPING, Gregg KEEPING (Lia), Carrie (Robert) MacGREGOR, Robert (Allison) DYCK and daughter-in-law Margaret KEEPING; dear grandfather of Mark and Mary KEEPING, Samantha and Stephanie DYCK, Bryce MacGREGOR and Lyndsay and Ryan McALPINE. Also fondly remembered by other family members and numerous Friends in Canada and United States. Ken had a distinguished and varied career at Dominion Bridge, Ryerson Press, Southam Murray Press, Versatile Corporation and the British Columbia Certified Management Accountants. He obtained his accounting designation RIA (CMA) in 1951 and served as President of both the Manitoba and British Columbia CMA Societies. He also served on the National CMA Board and represented Canada on the Board of Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants. Ken was made a Fellow of the Canadian CMA Society in 1983. He spent the major part of his career in Human Resources and served as President of the Industrial Relations Management Association of British Columbia Ken was generous in volunteering his expertise and time to various organizations such as the Optimist Club, Vancouver Art Gallery, Port Moody Police Board and the Better Business Bureau. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Davina, brothers Gordon and Norman and sister Margaret. Ken was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was a role model for many. He loved his family, golfing, travelling, his four legged companion Maddy and spending winters in the sun. Ken had a marvellous sense of humour and delighted family and Friends with his storytelling. Family gatherings were his favourite times. Ken was taken sooner and quicker than we ever expected. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A gathering to celebrate Ken's life will be held at Morgan Creek Golf Club, 3500 Morgan Creek Way, Surrey, British Columbia on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, from 2: 00-4:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hoglefuneralhomes.com.
