Beloved husband of Helen Ruth MacLACHLAN (née JOHNSON) father of Nancy, Jim, and Ross; grandfather of Robert, Colin, Fiona, Laura, and Elspeth. Sandy MacLACHLAN was born in Kingston August 12, 1924, son of Grant and Sara MacLACHLAN, brother of Francis and Katharine. He was a long time resident of Kingston, former businessman and community leader. Over the years he enjoyed his involvement with Saint Margaret's Church, the H.M.C.S. Huron association, the H.M.C.S. Cataraqui association, the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum, and the Clan Maclachlan society. The family will receive Friends at Saint Margaret's United Church in Kingston (Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd and Princess St.) on Friday April 25 and Saturday April 26 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the church Sunday April 27, 2008 at 1: 30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Saint Margaret's United Church or the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum.

VINGOE, Phyllis Isobel (formerly McCURRY, née McLACHLAN)
Passed away peacefully on July 25, 2008. Phyllis was born to Lottie and Duncan McLACHLAN, a pair of hardworking Scots, in North Bay, Ontario, on April 24, 1923. Her sister Myrtle CARR and brother Morris McLACHLAN still live in North Bay. Phyllis was an excellent student and she graduated from high school at the age of 15. Although she did not have the opportunity to continue her formal education, Phyllis believed that "one should never stop learning". She continued to be a voracious reader all of her life. Phyllis worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in North Bay as a stenographer. It was here that she met Ted McCURRY whom she married in 1952. They moved to Rothsay, New Brunswick, then to Toronto and finally to Galt, Ontario. After Ted died in 1978, Phyllis met and married Jack VINGOE and moved to Etobicoke. Phyllis was a strong woman who believed in the power of positive thinking. She lived independent in Etobicoke for many years. People would meet Phyllis once and remember her as "that tall, elegant woman". Phyllis loved to share her passion for ballet, literature, symphony, theatre, travel, bridge and golf with her wide circle of Friends, but she was most special to her grandchildren Erin and Blair of whom she was so proud, her daughter Margot McCURRY and son-in-law Allan ANTCLIFFE. We will miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Ballet of Canada or a charity of your choice. A celebration of Phyllis' life will take place at St. George's Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, July 30 at 2 p.m.

SMITH (1982) and the late Gary J. SMITH (2003.) Loved aunt of Dean NUNN of Calgary, Alberta and Darla NUNN of Saint Thomas. Also fondly remembered by one aunt and several cousins. Born in Saint Thomas, April 8, 1946, the daughter of the late Jack and Pearl (McLACHLIN) SMITH. Betty▼ was a retired clerk at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital where she worked in the Central Registry Department for over 25 years. Dorothy Elizabeth Wickens McLachlin JAMIESON passed away peacefully at the Sarcee Hospice in Calgary on Sunday, February 10, 2008 in her 90th year. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Mary GISH of Lacombe, Pam McLACHLIN of Edmonton, Stephen McLACHLIN of Calgary, Sandy (James) McCLURE of Calgary, and Craig JAMIESON (Denise) of Boise, Idaho. Betty was the loving grandmother of her eight grandchildren: Corey GISH (Shawn RICE) of Lacombe, Chad (Michelle) GISH of Olds, Samantha BALL (Mark) of Brampton, Ontario, James BALL of Edmonton, Brett (Laurie) McCLURE of Calgary, Grant (Rebecca) McCLURE of Victoria, Megan McCLURE of Cape Town, South Africa, and Alisha JAMIESON of Boise, Idaho. Betty was very proud of her seven great-grandchildren Catherine, Lewis, Jada, Jared, Morgan, Sasha and Aiden. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Norma WICKENS of Toronto, Audrey McLACHLIN of London, Ontario and Joan McCOMBE of Penticton. She also had many nieces and nephews as well as a life's journey of Friends. Betty▲ was predeceased by her first husband Allan (Mac) McLACHLIN in 1977, her second husband Ian JAMIESON in 1999, her parents Cora (1956) and Stephen WICKENS (1973,) her sisters Kathleen (1931) and Phyllis (2003) and her brother Ewart (2005). Betty led an exciting life filled with family and Friends. She lived many places in the world with her husband Mac when he was transferred often as a petroleum engineer with Shell Canada, always making a home for her family in each new place. She was a Life Member of the Girl Guides of Canada having filled roles as troop leader in many communities and on provincial executives. She sang with the Sweet Adeline choruses in Edmonton, Calgary and Nanaimo. She was committed to many charity organizations over the years. She and her second husband, Ian, became Snowbirds living in Sun City, Arizona and loving golf, the climate and their many Friends as only retirees can do. Betty was currently living in Calgary and had made many wonderful Friends in her new home. Betty always had time for her family and Friends. Throughout her life, she loved well and was, in turn, well-loved by everyone who knew her. Betty had a quick sense of humour, which so many of us will remember and cherish. A Celebration of Betty's life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 240-17th Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. A small tea will be held afterwards. McLAREN, KEN
Ken McLAREN, one of this area's well-known and respected residents, passed away on Thursday, April 17 as the result of a heart attack. Ken was in his 84th year. He was a retired farmer, he was a loving uncle, a treasured neighbour and friend.
Kenneth,▲▼ son of George and Alice McLAREN was born June 16, 1924 and spent most of his life working the family farm in Melancthon Township. He and his brother Delmar purchased the farm from their father George upon his retirement in 1972 Upon Ken's retirement in 1986 he moved into Dundalk on Victoria Street, and following his mother's passing moved to the Highview apartment in Dundalk in 1998.
Ken's daily routine would not be complete without going to the Junction Restaurant in the morning for coffee, playing cards at the card room and visiting Friends, relatives and neighbours. He enjoyed going to auction sales with cousin Carol and Ernie HAWTON. He was an avid euchre player and loved to go to the Bingo. Ken always supported and looked forward to attending community events such as the Firemen's Frolic, Dundalk Fair Honeywood Barbecue suppers, Dundalk Town Hall Theatre, Pepper Tournaments and Turkey Rolls at the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Dundalk Young at Heart Club. He enjoyed sports especially baseball and hockey. He would always attend local hockey games of cousins and great nephews.

Ken is survived by nieces Paulette RYAN, St. Catharines, Janice WEBSTER, Dundalk, Linda MacDONALD, Georgetown and Heather VERPAALEN, Laurel and nephews Gordon, Oakville and David McLAREN, Stratford, and great nephews Albert, Grant and Frank MILNE, Thomas and Dillon Ryan, Elliott and Jonathan McLAREN, Zack and Gage VERPAALEN, Conner and great niece Kaylee McLAREN.
The service was conducted by Mark DAVIDSON, minister of the Erskine Presbyterian Church who provided comforting words and prayers to the family and Friends. Music included, Praise My Soul the King of Heaven, What a Wonderful World and Go Rest High on that Mountain. Don PATTON played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.
The pallbearers were Brian BROSTER, David, Elliott and Jonathan McLAREN, Thomas RYAN and Lynn KEATING. Honourary pallbearers were Harvey CLARKE, Ernie HAWTON, Mac McLAREN, Grant PRESTON, Bob SCOTT, Vern SAINT_JOHN and Ivan WILTSHIRE.
Interment was in Badjeros Cemetery.
Following the committal service at Badjeros, Friends were invited to the Erskine Presbyterian Church in Dundalk for refreshments and a time to visit. The lunch was provided by the ladies of the church.
Ken will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many Friends, relatives and neighbours. To have been part of his life was truly an honour and a blessing.
God now has you in His hands, we will always have you in our hearts.

Peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, of complications from chronic colitis. Jane was the older daughter of the late Jack and Gwynneth MacLAREN, dear sister of the late Susan WORKMAN. Proud and beloved aunt of Jennifer WORKMAN and John WORKMAN (Heather) great aunt to Jack and Susannah WORKMAN.
Jane was involved in her community throughout her life, most recently as a member of the board of directors of Royal Victoria Hospital. Her many interests included the Huronia Symphony, the Canadian Opera, the Canadian Liver Foundation, the Toronto Symphony, the United Way of Greater Toronto, and Conservative politics. She was a loyal and life-long friend to many. She valued above all her independence!

Professor Emerita, the University of Toronto and Trinity College, Toronto, born December 10, 1928, died of cancer, nine years after the first diagnosis, on July 1, 2008. Cherished wife of C. Peter SLATER and beloved mother of Leslie GIRODAY (Philip,) Elizabeth DEWART (George McLAUCHLAN), Sean DEWART (Lori NEWTON), Gonzalo DUARTE, and grandmother of Gabrielle, Genevieve, James, Christopher, Alison, Karen, Geoffrey, Nora, George, Anne Marie, Joanna and Marc Francis. Fondly remembered stepmother of Lynne SLATER (Robert ARPIN), Ruth SLATER (Jim VIVIAN) and Claire SLATER (Ken RIDLEY). Joanne was the first woman to earn a doctorate in theology from Saint Michael's College, the first ordained woman to be tenured on the Faculty of Divinity at Trinity College, and the first woman holder of the chair in dogmatic theology at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, U.S.A., in New York. She served terms as Chair of the Department for the Study of Religion in the University of Toronto and as president of the American Theological Society, the Canadian Theological Society and the Canadian Society for Patristic Studies. A longtime director of Advanced Degree Studies for the Toronto School of Theology, she was an internationally acknowledged expert on the theology of Saint Augustine, and always very highly rated as a teacher by generations of students in both arts and theology and by her family. Ordained in 1988, she was, with her husband, an honorary assistant at Christ Church Deer Park. She loved her books, her dogs, and her garden. The family wishes to thank Doctor Amrit OZA and staff at the Princess Margaret Hospital and those from the Mount Sinai Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care and related services, who made it possible for her to die at home. Visitation will be at the Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (2 lights west of Yonge Street) on Sunday, July 6 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge Street (at Heath Street) on Monday, July 7 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
