Louise (née

Chairman, The W. Garfield Weston Foundation
A gracious lady in the fullest sense of the word: mother, aunt,
great aunt, friend, Miriam

in Toronto, the eldest of nine children of Willard Garfield

WESTON.
Miriam is remembered as a strong,
beautiful and compassionate woman.
She earned her B.A. from Stanford University and continued her
education to study law at McGill University. Miriam became the
family's unofficial historian, self-publishing three books meticulously
detailing the lives of her maternal grandmother, her mother,
and George
WESTON, her grandfather. She was a source of strength
for her husband Charlie through his prolonged illness. Her kindness
and sympathy were unmatched but her sweet nature belied her keen
intelligence, quick wit and remarkable fortitude.
An effective and quiet philanthropist, Miriam supported a wide
variety of causes including Parkinson's research and the preservation
of Canada's rich military history. In 1996 she was honoured as
a Dame of The Order of the Hospitallers, which is a world wide
organization helping the sick and the poor. Miriam held the position
of Chairman of the W. Garfield Weston Foundation for nearly 30 years.
Her personal generosity extended to helping many she felt simply
needed understanding and a kind hand.
The extended Weston family wishes to pay tribute to Miriam's
wise guidance on the Foundation and in their lives. Her high
moral standards will continue to serve as inspiration to the
younger generation who love her.
With special recognition and thanks to her exceptional caregivers:
Albert Baltazar, Elaine Carbonell and Sylvia Reyes.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be given to The Salvation
Army or to the charity of your choice.
A memorial service will take place Friday, April 4th at 4 o'clock,
Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, 1585 Yonge Street (one block
north of St. Clair Ave.).
