MacCOLL, Beulah Sarah Jane (née FISHER)
Passed peacefully away at Fiddick's Nursing Home, Petrolia on Monday, April 14. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh (Barney) MacCOLL (1989.) Beulah was born on February 05, 1913 on the 10th Line East (Petrolia Line) to Margaret (McLEAN) and Walter FISHER. She attended church in her early years at St. Andrew's Brooke and Enniskillen United Church and attended school on the Tenth Line. In her early twenties she moved to Regina to live with her grandfather George FISHER. Upon returning she met and married her husband Barney in 1938 and lived in Petrolia. They purchased a house on Greenfield Street in 1947 where she lived until 2003 when she moved to Fiddick's Retirement Home. Shortly after Barney's illness in the 50's she returned to high school and completed her commercial diploma, then obtaining employment at a local bank until he was able to return to work at Polymer several years later. She was an active member of many organizations including a monthly Bridge Club, the Girl Guides of Canada, the Elizabeth Council of the Universal Craftsmen Council of Engineers, the Petrolia and Enniskillen Fair Board and the Central Enniskillen Women's Institute. She has been a participating member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for 69 years. She was an avid quilter, teaching both her daughters to quilt and producing quilts for all her grandchildren. In her 80's she learned to tole paint and spent many enjoyable hours painting various projects. She loved to knit and continued this hobby until the last month of her life. Beulah attended many exercise classes which she said kept her flexible and in good health. Her many trips with Charlie were a special pastime and she attained her goal of visiting both the east and west coasts of Canada. Beulah was the last surviving member of a family of eight. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers Delores (Fred) EVOY, Clayton (Gwen) FISHER, Don (Lou) FISHER, Jerry FISHER (killed in action in France in World War 2), Gwendolyn FISHER, Arlie FISHER and Wayne (Donna) FISHER and Catherine FISHER. Her great-grandchildren were a source of immense enjoyment in her later years - Kaylee WHITE/WHYTE, Reis and Reina LOPES, Jordan and Chelsea LEWIS, Jessica and Justin CURRAN, and Mackenzie and Luke LUMLEY.
