CARSEN,
Clementine
Ruth (née
NAHM)
(Sunday December 29th, 1918-Sunday April 6th, 2008)
In her 89th year, suddenly, after a brief stay in hospital, from
lung disease. Clementine leaves behind her husband Walter, daughter
Johanni and son Robert. Clementine immigrated to Canada with
her parents from Mannheim, Germany, shortly before World War
2. She adjusted to a new way of life, set to work in several
capacities, married, and was instrumental in helping her husband
to build up his new business (W. Carsen Co). She later worked
as a very active member of the Volunteer Committee of the Art
Rental Department of the Art Gallery of Ontario, of which she
was a Founder Member. But it was her discovery of yoga which
completely altered her life. She became a remarkable teacher,
and her gentleness combined with her intuition and generosity
made her a much loved teacher, first in Toronto, then at the
Prem Anandham Ashram in Beaverton, Ontario and in more recent
years in Naples, Florida, where her classes were always full
to overflowing. She donated the proceeds of her teaching to charity,
which was always an important part of her life. Clementine was
a devoted wife and mother, and a loving, concerned friend. She
had a wonderful sense of humour, boundless curiosity and genuine
interest in others. She will be greatly missed by everyone that
she met. Her family is grateful to her many Friends who gave
her so much love and support in recent years and especially during
the 3 weeks she spent in hospital. Particular thanks go to Doctor Weaver
and the medical and nursing staff at the Physicians Regional
Medical
Centre in Naples, Florida, and also to Doctor Michael
BENTLEY-
TAILOR/TAYLOR
and Doctor Ian
FRASER at the Toronto East General Hospital. Her
family would also like to thank her wonderful spiritual guide
Arundhati STEINMEISTER and her dear friend Lianne DI
ROCCO for
helping her through her brief illness. Memorial services will
be held at a later date in Toronto, Ontario; Naples, Florida
and also in Europe. Please email: jcarsen@sympatico.ca to be
kept informed. Clementine's wish was for her life to be celebrated,
not mourned. If you would like to do so by making a donation
to charity in her honour, please contact: The Canadian Cancer

NAHWEGAHBO--In loving memory of John "Zhaabdiis"
NAHWEGAHBO.
What would I give to clasp his hand
His happy face to see
To hear his voice and see his smile
That meant so much to me.
I dream of you, dear loved one,
And see your smiling face
And know that you are happy
In your Father's chosen place.
The rolling stream of life rolls on,
But still the vacant chair
Recalls the love, the voice, the smile
Of the one who once sat there.
One year since the sad day
The son I loved was called away
God took him home, it was his will
But in my heart, he lives still.
Remembered by Mom.
