Nelda Madeline OAKES
In loving memory of Nelda Oakes, March 23, 1922 - March 18, 2008, a
resident of the Centennial Manor and formerly of Providence Bay, died at
the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Tuesday, March 18, 2008
at the age of 85 years. She was born at Coburn Island, daughter of the
late Norman and Rubina (Luther) McKay. Nelda had worked for many years
with Grant at Oakes Cottages. She loved to travel, having been to Europe
several times, but her greatest love was to be with family. She was also
very active in her church at Providence Bay. Nelda is survived by her
husband Grant of Spring Bay. Loved mother of Laura Kernohan of Toronto,
Dorothy (Brian) Hay of Tottenham and Mike Oakes of North Bay. Proud
grandmother of Daniel, Stephanie, Becky, Ben and Megan. Predeceased by
daughter Diana and son Chuck. Dear sister of June Strassburger and Ray
McKay, both of Kitchener and Doug McKay of Sault Sainte Marie. Friends
called at the Providence Bay United Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12
noon. The funeral service was conducted at 12 noon with Reverend Mary Jo
Eckert Tracy officiating. Cremation. In remembrance, donations to the

REID, Carol (née HUNTER)
Of Saint Thomas, formerly of Strathroy, passed away at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in her 67th year. Beloved wife for almost 40 years to Robert T. "Bob" Reid. Dearly loved mother of Bob Reid Jr., and Meghan OAKES and her husband Ian, and loving grandmother of Eric OAKES, all of Saint Thomas. Also fondly remembered by sisters-in-law, Karen Reid of Strathroy, and Shirley HUNTER of Calgary, Alberta, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dear sister of the late Murray HUNTER and the late James HUNTER. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, May 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Bart and Alma CAIRNS) HUNTER. Carol was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Saint Thomas. Friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held Friday at 11: 00 a.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the charity of one's choice gratefully acknowledged.

CROSLAND, Daisy (née GUY)
On Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Wyndham Manor in Oakville, our dear Mother passed away peacefully in her 92nd year. Daisy was born in Little Current, Manitoulin Island on May 29, 1916. Pre-deceased by her dear late husband Frank CROSLAND, and her mother, Florence McDOUGALL. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Pat and son-in-law Ken SMITH, and her son Lawrence and his companion Jane OAKES. She leaves four grandchildren: Jim and his wife Jackie, Graham and his wife Mary Ellen, Kenneth, Richard and his wife Wynsome. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Christina. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Audrey LEE (CROSLAND.) Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) from 12 Noon on Monday, April 7, 2008 with a Service Celebrating the Life of Daisy in the Chapel at 1: 00 p.m. Private Family Interment Saint_Jude's Cemetery.

OAKES, John Alan
Passed away peacefully at home in Ladysmith, British Columbia June 18, 2008. Born November 23, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by his wife Lois (née MUNRO) and sisters Katherine and Doreen. Lovingly remembered by his family: wife Judy LASCELLES (née ARTHUR;) brother Donald; children Geoff, John, James and Janice; grandchildren and other members of his extended family including Frank and Fred LASCELLES.

Died peacefully at Kelso Pines Lodge, Owen Sound on Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Helen was predeceased by her husband James A. (Jim) STEPHENSON and her brother Lawrence TWINING. Greatly missed and loving mother of Judy OAKEY of London, Vicki (Wolf) SLOPIANKA of Edmonton, Alberta and Barry (Joan) STEPHENSON of Owen Sound. Missed by her brothers Edwin (Audrey) TWINING of Dunnville and Russell (Marion) TWINING of Hamilton and her sister-in-law Barbara TWINING of Owen Sound. Peacefully, at the London Health Sciences Centre Victoria Hospital, Mr. James Robert OAKLEY on April 7, 2008. Dear wife of Colleen George. Loving father of Jay, Carissa of London and Quinn of Nanaimo, British Columbia. Will be sadly missed by grandchildren Jade, Paige and Cole. Loving father-in-law to Christie BOURER. Predeceased by parents Mary Anges and Robert James OAKLEY and brother George Edward Patrick OAKLEY. Survived by his sisters Marie REYNOLDS (Jim), Bernadette OAKLEY, Nadine HUMPHREY (John), Anne OAKLEY, Angela ADDISON and his brothers Louie OAKLEY (Karen) and Mark OAKLEY (Tracy) and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday, April 10 from 7-9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell). OAKLEY, Paul and Wayne
With deep sadness, Friends of Wayne announce his passing, as well as the loss of his father Paul, a few days earlier. Predeceased by his mother, Beatrice. Our dear friend Wayne, the fisherman, the Trivial Pursuit champion, the opera aficionado, the very well-read gentleman, the stats king (boxing, baseball, hockey) as well as a long career in graphic arts. He is sadly missed and will be fondly remembered. Father and son will be remembered and eulogized on Monday, January 7, 2008, 1: 30 p.m. at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd.
