At home, with her family, on Saturday, March 8, 2008, Victoria DZIADURA in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Jan DZIADURA (1983.) Dear mother of Ann (Stan) WROBEL of Saint Thomas, Edward DZIADURA (Holly,) and Peter DZIADURA both of London. Loving grandmother of Janina (Adam) QUIPP, Karl WROBEL, and Jakub (Becky) WROBEL. Great-grandmother of Jack and Eadie QUIPP and Jonavin WROBEL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Poland. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St. on Monday from 2: 00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10: 00 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 419 Hill St. Interment Saint Peter's Cemetery. Peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, March 8, 2008, Pearl Eileen Wrobel (née SINCLAIR) of Woodstock in her 85th year. Loving wife of 59 years of the late Jan WROBEL. Cherished mother of Janek WROBEL (Christine) of Britain and Brian WROBEL of Woodstock. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Teresa Danyel McEWEN of Seattle, Simon WROBEL of London, England, and Hayley WROBEL of Madrid, Spain, and great-granddaughter Hannah MILLER of Seattle. Also remembered by her family in Britain. Pearl was previously a member of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire Havelock Chapter and had served as the secretary of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce. Friends will be received at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment later at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery. WROBEL, Ric (1959-2008)
It is with great sadness that the family of Ric WROBEL announces that on April 2nd, 2008, Ric of Edmonton passed away suddenly in the arms of his wife Cindy while travelling in Xian, China with family and Friends. Ric is lovingly survived by his wife Cindy and his daughters Jennifer and Allannah, his Edmonton family mother-in-law Faye MULEK, brother-in-law Dale MULEK and his wife Sharon, sister-in-law Linda and her husband Zenek BEREZNICKI and their daughter Samantha; his family in London, Ontario; brother Stan and Ann WROBEL and their children Janina, Jacob, Karol, and their families; his sister Gena and Ted GRYN and their children, Teresa, Stephanie and Christina and their families; his younger brother Stephen WROBEL and his wife Margaret ZDULSKI and his stepmother Josephine WROBEL; and his special best friend Don GALENZOSKI and his wife Karen and their children Krista and Jon as well as many Friends and colleagues. Ric was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jadwiga WROBEL. In our hearts he will always be cherished, and loved in our memory. HARPER, John M. " Jack," Q.C., B.A., LL.B.
After a long and full life, Jack died on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Saint Mary's General Hospital. He celebrated his 91st birthday on June 26th. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Mary (JAMIESON,) to whom he was married to for 65 years. He will be lovingly remembered with pride by his children, Jim and his wife Pauline HARPER of Waterloo, Susan and her husband John PALMER of Kitchener and George and his wife Doris HARPER of Waterloo. Jack was a great role model to his grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by them John HARPER and his wife Megan, Cynthia and her husband Derick ROSE, Stephen PALMER, Jill WROBEL, Tania and her husband Alan WILLEMSEN and Tiffany and her husband Ron VAN SOMEREN and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rev. Betty PUGH and her husband Rev. Bill PUGH of Waterloo. He was predeceased by his parents Grace (MICKLE) and George H. HARPER and sister Helen DURNAN. Jack served his country with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada in Canada, The Caribbean, England, France and Holland. He was appointed Honourary Colonel, Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada in 1990. He began his career as a lawyer 1948 when he joined Walter McGibbon to establish the firm of McGibbon and HARPER. Through numerous mergers in his law career, Jack eventually retired from Gowlings as General Counsel December 31, 2007. He was the former President and Director of the Waterloo Insurance Company, former Vice-Chair and Director of The Economical Mutual Insurance Company and a former Director and Chair of the Board of Directors of The Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada. He was Past President of the Waterloo Lions Club, K-W Counselling Services, Westmount Golf and Country Club (Honourary Member), Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area and The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation. He was a former Chair and member of First United Church, a former member of the Board of Governors of Wilfred Laurier University, was selected as one of the early recipients of the K-W Citizen of the Year Award, named a Paul Harris Fellow and most recently the City of Waterloo named a new library in his honour, the John M. Harper Public Library. Friends are invited to share their memories of Jack with his family at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Sunday, July 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday, July 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate his long and full life will be held at First United Church, King and William Streets in Waterloo on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick HAWLEY officiating. Interment will follow in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, followed by a reception. BURR, Allena Jean
89, left this earthly life in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, Petrolia, Ontario. Born on the family farm in the hamlet of Waubuno, Ontario on May 11, 1919, she was the daughter of John Francis BURR and Cathern Ann LESTER. She later resided in Sarnia and Point Edward and, since 1994, in Brigden at Brigden Park Place. In September 1942, she enlisted with the Canadian Women's Army Corps Basic Training Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. She served with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps Unit in London, Ontario until the end of the war. She later worked in the Dietary Department of the Sarnia General Hospital from 1948 until her retirement in 1981. She worked at the hospital with her sister, Kathleen (Kay) BURR, who was employed in the Housekeeping Department. Apart from Allena's time serving with the Canadian Women's Army Corps, she and Kay shared a home throughout their lives and enjoyed working, shopping and travelling together. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert Andrew (Andy) BURR, Thomas (Tom) William BURR, and sisters, Annie Jane BURR, Helen Jennetta (Fred) FOURNIE and Kathleen BURR. Beloved aunt of Cathy (FOURNIE) and Jay LETHBRIDGE of Anten Mills, Ontario and their children Mike and Jessica; and Laurie (FOURNIE) and Ian MASON of Brigden, who regarded Allena affectionately as another mother. Special aunt of Caroline (Bob) BOURGET and their son, Greg, of Sarnia; and Carole (late Joe) DEDECKER of Port Lambton. Great aunt and great-great aunt of Joe and Karen DEDECKER, and their children, Brennan, Nate, Christopher and Brianna, of Chatham Gore, Ontario. Beloved sister-in-law of Vi (BURR) WROE of Sarnia and cousin and friend of Mary GIBBS of Point Edward. A time of reminiscences will take place at Steadman Brothers Funeral Home Brigden Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning 1 hour prior. After the time of sharing memories of Allena, the funeral procession will be led by the 1959 Cadillac Hearse to Bear Creek Cemetery, Moore Line, St. Clair Township. Venta had lived a truly extraordinary life over almost a full century, being a first hand witness to the significant European events of the 20th century. Her sense of adventure, zest for life, and unfailing love and support, is missed very much by her daughter, Diana JANOSIK- WRONSKI, Diana's husband David DORWARD and her granddaugher Kira, as well as her niece Barbara NOWAKOWSKA.
