for 35 years. Jim was active in the community being a member
of Brampton Golf and Country Club, Avonlea Curling Club, Toronto
Assoc. Police Curling Club and Escot Curling league. Besides golfing
and curling he travelled extensively throughout: N. America,
Australia, United Kingdom, Europe and to the family cottage in
Parry Sound, Ontario Proud supporter of: Royal Canadian Mounted
Police Veterans Assoc., Royal Can. Legion, and local Libraries,
he was an avid reader known for his thirst for knowledge and
keen wit. Previously employed with: Dale Estates, Victory Aircraft,
A.V. Roe, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (1949-1976) serving in
Regina, Ottawa and Toronto detachments, Texaco/Esso (1980-92).
He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. Cremation
will take place with remains interred at Brampton Cemetery. A Memorial
will be held at the Brampton Golf Club on 7700 Kennedy Road,
on Saturday January 12th, 1-4 p.m. for family and Friends. Donations
to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society or Canadian Cancer Society
would be appreciated by the family.

Born in Greenock, Scotland, he maintained a deep love for Scotland
and his Scottish family. Gordon loved the open water and sailing.
In World War 2, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy on Atlantic/North
Sea duty. Graduated in 1948 from University of Toronto (Mechanical
Engineering). After working for Union Gas and Trans Mountain
Pipeline companies, in 1956 he established G.I. Russell and Company
Limited, his consulting professional engineering practice. He
founded Interprovincial Corrosion Control Ltd. and Isoionics.
As a pioneer in promoting corrosion prevention for steel integrity
maintenance, he conducted R and D, designing and applying cutting
edge and innovative solutions, aiming to ensure public safety
and optimal corrosion prevention. Gordon was Founding Chair,
Southern Ontario Committee on Electrolytes, Founding Chair, National
Association of Corrosion Engineers (Canadian Division) and Principal,
Walter W. Smeltzer Corrosion Laboratory at McMaster University.
Close to his heart were his family, many Friends and time spent
enjoying Ellie, Cairn and Muskoka.
The family will receive Friends at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral
Home, Burlington Chapel, 2241 New Street (at Drury Lane), Burlington,
905-637-5233, on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the
