McCURDY, Ada Margaret (McCOMB)
At Central Place Retirement Residence in Owen Sound Wednesday evening April 16, 2008. The former Ada McCOMB of Owen Sound formerly of R.R.#1 Dobbinton in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Harvey McCURDY. Loving mother of Alvin and his wife Wanda of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by her two grandchildren; Jennifer of Glasgow, Scotland and Kirk of Kitchener. Dear sister-in-law of Gertrude McCOMB of Owen Sound. Predeceased by her son Lenard three brothers; Clifford, Morell and Alvin. Ada was an active member of the Tara Ladies Orange Benevolent Association and the Centenary United Church Women. Friends may call at the Downs and son Funeral Home Hepworth Saturday April 26th from 1: 00 p.m. until 3: 00 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted from the funeral home at 3: 00 p.m. with Rev. Jack TWEDDLE officiating. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. Went to join his Maker on May 22, 2008. Bill was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on the 8th of August, 1915. He was educated at Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate in St. Vidal, Manitoba and Success Business College in Winnipeg.
At the height of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served at various stations as an Administrative Officer. On posting overseas he was assigned to the Intelligence Branch until he retired as a Flight Lieutenant in December, 1945. On return to "Civy Street" he was employed federally as an auditor for 28 years and then provincially for four years.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Jean in August 1997, after 55 years of close togetherness. Those left to celebrate his life include daughter Marion and husband Bill McCOMB; daughter Beverley and husband David TKACHUK, grandchildren: Andrea, Jeffrey and Rebecca. Also, son William J. JEFFREY Junior and his wife Mary (née BIALEK.) Also, a brother Herbert and his wife Gay (nee MORRISON) and niece Jacqueline and nephew Gordon. Also numerous Friends from all walks of life in business and pleasure and with whom life became a wonderful adventure.
In living memory of William JEFFREY a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park adjacent to the tree already there in memory of Jean.
Graveside service will be held at the Military Section of Rocky View Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta, and interment will be held in the plot next to Jean's on Tuesday, 27 May, 2008 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

JAMIESON, Dorothy Elizabeth "Betty" (formerly McLACHLIN, née WICKENS)
(March 28th, 1918-February 10th, 2008)
Dorothy Elizabeth Wickens McLachlin JAMIESON passed away peacefully at the Sarcee Hospice in Calgary on Sunday, February 10, 2008 in her 90th year. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Mary GISH of Lacombe, Pam McLACHLIN of Edmonton, Stephen McLACHLIN of Calgary, Sandy (James) McCLURE of Calgary, and Craig JAMIESON (Denise) of Boise, Idaho. Betty was the loving grandmother of her eight grandchildren: Corey GISH (Shawn RICE) of Lacombe, Chad (Michelle) GISH of Olds, Samantha BALL (Mark) of Brampton, Ontario, James BALL of Edmonton, Brett (Laurie) McCLURE of Calgary, Grant (Rebecca) McCLURE of Victoria, Megan McCLURE of Cape Town, South Africa, and Alisha JAMIESON of Boise, Idaho. Betty was very proud of her seven great-grandchildren Catherine, Lewis, Jada, Jared, Morgan, Sasha and Aiden. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Norma WICKENS of Toronto, Audrey McLACHLIN of London, Ontario and Joan McCOMBE of Penticton. She also had many nieces and nephews as well as a life's journey of Friends. Betty was predeceased by her first husband Allan (Mac) McLACHLIN in 1977, her second husband Ian JAMIESON in 1999, her parents Cora (1956) and Stephen WICKENS (1973,) her sisters Kathleen (1931) and Phyllis (2003) and her brother Ewart (2005). Betty led an exciting life filled with family and Friends. She lived many places in the world with her husband Mac when he was transferred often as a petroleum engineer with Shell Canada, always making a home for her family in each new place. She was a Life Member of the Girl Guides of Canada having filled roles as troop leader in many communities and on provincial executives. She sang with the Sweet Adeline choruses in Edmonton, Calgary and Nanaimo. She was committed to many charity organizations over the years. She and her second husband, Ian, became Snowbirds living in Sun City, Arizona and loving golf, the climate and their many Friends as only retirees can do. Betty was currently living in Calgary and had made many wonderful Friends in her new home. Betty always had time for her family and Friends. Throughout her life, she loved well and was, in turn, well-loved by everyone who knew her. Betty had a quick sense of humour, which so many of us will remember and cherish. A Celebration of Betty's life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 240-17th Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 11: 00 a.m. A small tea will be held afterwards. The Family would like to thank Doctor Jamieson of the Foothills Hospital and all the wonderful nursing and administrative staff in Unit 72. In addition, we thank everyone at the Sarcee Hospice. With their care, love and support of not only our Mother but also all of our Family, they helped us through this difficult time with grace, dignity and understanding. At the Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, April 30th, 2008 at the age of 84 years, Rev. Bert YOUNG of Puslinch. Loving husband of Velma (LEASK.) Father of Jane and her husband Ken STRACHAN of Hamilton, Mary and her husband John JOHNSTON of Puslinch, Nancy and her husband Scovil FISHER of Hillsburg, Stephen and his wife Francis of Rivers, Manitoba, and Peggy and her husband Marty KIRBY of Hamilton. John “Jack” WELSTEAD of Thornbury passed away at Errinrung Residence in Thornbury on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, the former Ruth McCOMBS in October 2001. Remembered as the loved father of Jean BOWSER of Collingwood Jacqueline ‘Jackie' (Mrs. Murray LOUCKS) of R.R.#2 Clarksburg Gail POECHMAN of R.R.#2 Walkerton; Ronald WELSTEAD and his wife Karen of R.R.#2 Clarksburg; and Norman WELSTEAD of Mississauga. Sadly missed by thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Kathryn LEGGETT of Hamilton and predeceased by a sister, Jean CORBETT, of Lakefield. Brother-in-law of Pearl McCOMBS of Niagara Falls. 79, of the Gentle Care Nursing Home in Yarmouth, passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Friday, January 4, 2008. Born January 13, 1928, she was predeceased by her husband Gordon. She is survived by daughters Lynn BUSHEE, Newburyport, Massachussetts Gail McCOMISKEY, Rockland, Maine; sons Wayne McCOMISKEY, Amesbury, Massachussetts; Mark McCOMISKEY of Punta Gorda, Florida, and 7 grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service in the spring of 2008 at Puritan Lawn Garden Cemetery in Peabody, Massachussetts.
