RIEHL, James Wellington " Jim"
Of Blenheim, at the Sydenham Campus of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, went to be with our Lord Jesus, May 6, 2008. Much loved husband of Margaret (TAILOR/TAYLOR,) dear father of Jacqueline (WADDICK) and Kenneth and the late Rebecca RIEHL. Proud grandpa of Cayley, Emma, Alexis and Zachary. Brother-in-law of Sandra and Gordon YIP, Alan and Nancy TAILOR/TAYLOR and Angela and Tom PELLERIN. Born in Stratford, Ontario, March 20, 1950. son of Dorothy (LESLIE) and Wellington RIEHL. Predeceased by infant daughter Rebecca, his parents, and sisters Louise McKAY and Catherine KNOWLES, and brother-in-law Kenneth KNOWLES. Jim taught at London Rd. School in Sarnia for several years, and joined the Ontario Provincial Police stationed in Merlin, in 1975. He continued in that position into the 1980s, and returned to teaching with the Lambton Kent School Board. He enjoyed teaching the senior grades in the elementary schools sharing his love of history, science, literature and sports. He taught in Wallaceburg, Ridgetown and Chatham schools, most recently at Gregory Drive Public School. Coaching teams in various sports was a passion of Jim's, especially when his teams were successful! Jim was a co-founder of the Chatham Kent Wildcats Basketball Association, which began with one girls' team and grew to include girls' and boys' teams of various ages. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, hunting and hockey. He was longtime member of the "Buckhorn Coffee Gang" in Cedar Springs, a former Kiwanian and member of the Blenheim Royal Canadian Legion. His grandchildren and his two dogs, Charlie and Friday, gave Jim great pleasure during his illness. Special thanks to the nursing staff of Medecine 4 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham and most especially the staff on the Complex Continuing Care floor at the Sydenham Campus in Wallaceburg. The Riehl family will receive Friends for visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley Street, Blenheim on Friday May 9, 2008 from 12: 30-1:30 p.m. Following visitation, a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Tim JOYCE (Word of Life Church, Blenheim) will be held at 1: 30 in the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Saint Mary's Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
