Description

First Baptist Church Cemetery is located on the east part of Lot 22, Concession 8, in Markham Township, now the City of Markham. It’s on the west side of the Ninth Concession Road, north of Major Mackenzie Drive.

In 1848, a church and cemetery were established on a part of the Miller family farm. Burials were regular over the years, particularly in the 1870’s. In the early 1990’s the church, commonly known as the Ninth Line Baptist Church was moved and restored at the Markham Museum. As of the transcription publication date, the cemetery was still active.

The transcription, published in 1993, is 19 pages long and consists of a short history, photos, a map, the inscriptions and an index.
