IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility) Statement:

Ontario’s genealogical tapestry has been woven with many threads, each unique and significant, creating a brilliant and rich mosaic. Our mission is to advocate, educate and preserve our collective genealogical history across the province of Ontario.  To do this, we must broaden our focus and recognize and embrace ALL family histories and stories.  We seek to acknowledge and honour our genealogical diversity, improve access to more records, welcome inclusiveness in our storytelling, and strive for equity for everyone seeking to understand their family histories, even when the conversation becomes difficult. To help us move forward, we have created a team to focus on and integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in everything we do – from our education programs to our volunteer engagement to our digitization plans and everything in between.
