The role of The Society’s Board of Directors is to set policy and direct projects for The Ontario Genealogical Society.  All Board positions are unpaid volunteer positions with expenses being compensated as outlined in the Society policies.

As per the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 – Part IV:  Directors and Officers, elections will occur at The Ontario Genealogical Society’s Annual Meeting to be held virtually in June 2023.

The OGS Recruiting and Elections Committee is calling for the following positions to be filled (descriptions will open in new tab/page):

The Society is seeking members who:

  • Will actively contribute to meetings – share knowledge, provide opinions, offer advice
  • Have a broad understanding of and commitment to the Mission, Vision and Objectives of The Ontario Genealogical Society
  • Think and act strategically
  • Support the direction of The Ontario Genealogical Society
  • Develop an annual mandate for their contribution to OGS
  • Have an active relationship with one or more Branches or SIGs

The successful candidate will also have expertise or interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • advocacy
  • communications and marketing
  • educational planning
  • information technology
  • human resources
  • legal experience
  • financial management
  • event planning
  • funding/fundraising
  • project management
  • strategic planning
  • volunteer management
