Durham Branch “Day of Learning”
- Nick Post presents “The Ins and Outs of FamilySearch and What’s New!”
Nancy Trimble, Durham Region Branch Chair
Durham Region Branch’s Day of Learning will be held on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm at Faith United Church, Nash Road, Courtice. This year’s theme is “From DNA Connections to Database Giants”.
We are very pleased to have Nick Post present: “The Ins and Outs of FamilySearch and What’s New!”
Nick will be explaining how FamilySearch came about, and the benefits of using it. He will take the group through signing in to the program and discuss the different areas within the site, as well as provide examples from his own Family Tree. He will also outline partnerships with other Family History sites, indexing and additional programs available. Finally, Nick will discuss updates and future changes coming to FamilySearch.
Nick Post is 68 years old, and has been married 46 years to Kathy Luke, with 4 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Retired from the City of Oshawa since 2000, he has spent much of his spare time working on his own family history with over 34,000 names. He is the supervisor over the LDS Church’s Family History Centers in Bancroft, Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Oshawa. He has also assisted with developing a book and has presented several seminars on different family history topics. He is also a “Temple and Family History Consultant” at the Oshawa Stake Family History Library. Nick is currently the Vice-Chair of the Durham Region Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and provides a very welcome liaison with the Oshawa Family History Centre.
