Genealogy Day at the Archives a Great Success!
Patti Mordasewicz, President, The Ontario Genealogical Society
We had a full house on April 5th for Genealogy Day at the Archives, a one day event hosted by the Archives of Ontario and OGS to celebrate Archives Awareness Week in Ontario.
Attendees learned how to prepare for a research trip to the Archives, and how to use the resources to their best advantage from genealogist Janice Nickerson. Aaron Hope of Archives of Ontario talked about what’s new among the Archives vast collections, and a panel of OGS members told their own stories of how research at the Archives helped them further develop their personal family histories.
Archivists were on hand to offer one-on-one consultations during Ask-an-Archivist scheduled sessions, and Conservators offered advice on how to preserve and care for family heirlooms and treasures.
OGS and Archives of Ontario are planning repeat events in the coming months! Stay tuned.
