NEW! Premium Research Portal
Ontario Ancestors has been pleased to be able to offer the MyHeritage Library Edition to Society members for the past three years. At only $15 for the 2020 year, MyHeritage Library Edition was an unbelievable offer, allowing members to access more than 11 billion records from the comfort of home at a fraction of the cost of the personal MyHeritage subscription.
Like the Ancestry Library Edition available through most public libraries in Ontario (and available at home in many areas during the Ontario pandemic response for library card holders), the MyHeritage Library Edition will not save your personal family tree, and you cannot “attach” your record finds to your tree. You can however download and save your record finds and print them out or attach the record documents to your personal tree on your home computer or other device in most cases.
NOW, in a limited time trial until the end of 2020, we are pleased to introduce the Ontario Ancestors member Premium Research Advantage, combining:
- MyHeritage Library Edition;
- Maclean’s Magazine Archive,1905-2015
- The Canadian Reference Centre; and
- European Views of the Americas: 1493 – 1750
Maclean’s Magazine Archive, 1905-2015, a digital collection of the leading Canadian news and general interest magazine. Providing a unique perspective on national and international news and culture, the magazine covers investigative reporting, opinion and analysis on politics, economics, technology and more.
The Canadian Reference Centre combines Canadian magazines, newspapers, newswires and reference books to create the largest collection of regional full text content available to Canadian libraries. This database includes leading Canadian periodicals and international (U.S. and U.K) periodicals in full text; full text reference books; over 87,900 full text biographies and an image collection of over 502,000 photos, maps, and flags.
European Views of the Americas: 1493 – 1750 This new bibliographic database is a valuable index for libraries, scholars and individuals interested in European works that relate to the Americas. EBSCO Publishing, in cooperation with the John Carter Brown Library, has created this resource. The database contains more than 32,000 entries and is a comprehensive guide to printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750.
All of these unique record collections are available for the balance of 2020 to Ontario Ancestors members for only $20 (members who have already purchased a MyHeritage Library Edition 2020 access code will automatically gain access to this full collection).
Ontario Ancestors will evaluate the reaction to this collection at the end of the year to determine whether there is sufficient interest to invest in these resources in 2021.
