The British Columbia Genealogical Society

The British Columbia Genealogical Society and its members have been researching, preserving and publishing family histories since 1971. If you have British Columbia connections in your family history research, you really need to consider the resources of the BCGS, a not-for profit corporation and registered Canadian charity. They offer British Columbia research services, and maintain a genealogical resources library, the Walter Draycott Library, in Surrey. Their searchable catalogue is available online, along with a searchable index of their quarterly journal, The British Columbia Genealogist.

Perhaps it would be worthwhile to scrutinize their members’ Interests listing to see if you have a connection with a current member’s research, or to check out what is available in their bookstore, BCGS Boutique.

Consider joining the British Columbia Genealogical Society today, and help them continue their mission of discovery, collection, preservation and access to family history research.

Ontario Genealogical Society members receive membership discounts when joining the British Columbia Genealogical Society. Many early Ontario settlers, or their offspring, headed west in search of land, gold and other riches. Follow your ancestors or their families to British Columbia.
