Saskatchewan Genealogical Society

The Saskatchewan Genealogical Society is the voice of genealogy in Saskatchewan.  With 14 branches and over 850 members, the purpose of the non-profit, volunteer organization is to promote and develop the study, research and preservation of genealogy and family history.  The mandate is to preserve Saskatchewan records; provide assistance to Saskatchewan residents researching their heritage anywhere, and to people from elsewhere researching their Saskatchewan heritage.

The SGS Library is the largest genealogical lending library in Canada.  The library is open to the public, however, only members may borrow books. The Provincial Office, Library and Research Room are located on the ground floor at 110 – 1514 11th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan.

SGS is cataloguing its library collection. All resources are catalogued by country, state or province. As each section is completed, it will be added to the web site. The information provided includes: title, author, year published, media (book, microfiche, microfilm, journal, map), and lending status (borrow or reference only). As a member of the society, you may borrow directly. Microfilm and microfiche can be used in the library by members only.  Contact  SGS to place an order or for more information on our collection.

SGS members have access to a number of resources not available to non-members. Check the website for details.

If you have family who settled in Saskatchewan, or perhaps merely passed through on their way elsewhere, consider joining the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society today. Members of the Ontario Genealogical Society are eligible for a $5 discount on an SGS membership.
