During the War of 1812 the citizen soldiers served alongside British regular troops in defence of Canada. Many of those who served were entitled to land grants and the records of those 4,500 grants, held in the National Archives, are here indexed. The author has made those records more accessible by giving exact archival references for obtaining copies of files and providing the militia unit in which a man served.
